﴿حَتَّىٰ إِذَا بَلَغَ مَغْرِبَ الشَّمْسِ وَجَدَهَا تَغْرُبُ فِي عَيْنٍ حَمِئَةٍ وَوَجَدَ عِندَهَا قَوْمًا ۗ قُلْنَا يَا ذَا الْقَرْنَيْنِ إِمَّا أَن تُعَذِّبَ وَإِمَّا أَن تَتَّخِذَ فِيهِمْ حُسْنًا﴾
[ الكهف: 86]

Ayat With Urdu Translation

یہاں تک کہ جب سورج کے غروب ہونے کی جگہ پہنچا تو اسے ایسا پایا کہ ایک کیچڑ کی ندی میں ڈوب رہا ہے اور اس (ندی) کے پاس ایک قوم دیکھی۔ ہم نے کہا ذوالقرنین! تم ان کو خواہ تکلیف دو خواہ ان (کے بارے) میں بھلائی اختیار کرو (دونوں باتوں میں تم کو قدرت ہے)

Surah Al-Kahf Full Urdu

(1) عَيْنٍ سے مراد چشمہ یا سمندر ہے حَمِئَةٍ، کیچڑ، دلدل، وَجَدَ (پایا) یعنی دکھایا محسوس کیا مطلب یہ ہے کہ ذوالقرنین جب مغربی جہت میں ملک پر ملک فتح کرتا ہوا، اس مقام پر پہنچ گیا جہاں آخری آبادی تھی وہاں گدلے پانی کا چشمہ یا سمندر تھا جو نیچے سے سیاہ معلوم ہوتا تھا اسے ایسا محسوس ہوا کہ گویا سورج اس چشمے میں ڈوب رہا ہے۔ ساحل سمندر سے دور سے، جس کے آگے حد نظر تک کچھ نہ ہو، غروب شمس کا نظارہ کرنے والوں کو ایسا محسوس ہوتا ہے کہ سورج سمندر میں یا زمین میں ڈوب رہا ہے حالانکہ وہ اپنے مقام آسمان پر ہی ہوتا ہے۔
(2) قُلْنَا (ہم نے کہا) بذریعہ وحی، اسی سے بعض علماء نے نبوت پر ثبوت کیا ہے اور جو ان کی نبوت کے قائل نہیں ہیں، وہ کہتے ہیں کہ اس وقت کے پیغمبر کے ذریعے سے ہم نے اس سے کہا۔
(3) یعنی ہم نے اس قوم پر غلبہ دے کر اختیار دے دیا کہ چاہے تو اسے قتل کرے اور قیدی بنا لے یا فدیہ لے کر بطور احسان چھوڑ دے۔

حتیٰ کہ جب وہ غروب آفتاب کی حَد تک پہنچ گیا تو اس نے سورج کو ایک کالے پانی میں ڈوبتے دیکھا اور وہاں اُسے ایک قوم ملی ہم نے کہا "اے ذوالقرنین، تجھے یہ مقدرت بھی حاصل ہے کہ ان کو تکلیف پہنچائے اور یہ بھی کہ اِن کے ساتھ نیک رویّہ اختیار کرے"

Tafseer Tafheem-ul-Quran by Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi

(18:86) till he reached the limit where the sun set, *63 and found it setting in black waters, *64 and there he saw a people. We said to him, "O Zul-Qarnain! you have the power to punish them and also the option to treat them generously". *65

Until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it meaning

*63) "The limit where the sun set" does not mean the "place" of the setting of the sun. According to Ibn Kathir, it means that he marched to the West conquering one country after the other till he reached the last boundary of the land, beyond which there was ocean.
*64) "He found the sun setting in black muddy waters of the sea": if ZulQarnain was Cyrus, then that place would be the western limit of Asia Minor and the "black waters" would be the Aegean Sea. This interpretation is supported by the use of the word "`ain"instead of "bahr" in the Qur'an.
<*65) "We said to him" does not necessarily mean that Allah directly revealed to him these words, and that Z, ul-Qarnain was a Prophet or was the one who received inspiration from Allah, and the same is the reasonable conjecture. This concerns the time when Zul-Qarnain had taken possession of the land as a conqueror and the conquered people were utterly at your mercy. Then Allah posed a question before his conscience, as if to say, "Now is the time of your trial. These people are utterly at your mercy, and you have the option either to behave unjustly towards them or to treat them generously."

Hatta itha balagha maghriba alshshamsi wajadaha taghrubu fee AAaynin hamiatin wawajada AAindaha qawman qulna ya tha alqarnayni imma an tuAAaththiba waimma an tattakhitha feehim husnan

English - Sahih International

Until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it [as if] setting in a spring of dark mud, and he found near it a people. Allah said, "O Dhul-Qarnayn, either you punish [them] or else adopt among them [a way of] goodness."

Quran Hindi translation

यहाँ तक कि जब (चलते-चलते) आफताब के ग़ुरूब होने की जगह पहुँचा तो आफताब उनको ऐसा दिखाई दिया कि (गोया) वह काली कीचड़ के चश्में में डूब रहा है और उसी चश्में के क़रीब एक क़ौम को भी आबाद पाया हमने कहा ऐ जुलकरनैन (तुमको एख्तियार है) ख्वाह इनके कुफ्र की वजह से इनकी सज़ा करो (कि ईमान लाए) या इनके साथ हुस्ने सुलूक का शेवा एख्तियार करो (कि खुद ईमान क़ुबूल करें)

Quran Bangla tarjuma

অবশেষে তিনি যখন সুর্যের অস্তাচলে পৌছলেন; তখন তিনি সুর্যকে এক পঙ্কিল জলাশয়ে অস্ত যেতে দেখলেন এবং তিনি সেখানে এক সম্প্রদায়কে দেখতে পেলেন। আমি বললাম, হে যুলকারনাইন! আপনি তাদেরকে শাস্তি দিতে পারেন অথবা তাদেরকে সদয়ভাবে গ্রহণ করতে পারেন।
