Verse 14 from surah Al-Baqarah

﴿وَإِذَا لَقُوا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا قَالُوا آمَنَّا وَإِذَا خَلَوْا إِلَىٰ شَيَاطِينِهِمْ قَالُوا إِنَّا مَعَكُمْ إِنَّمَا نَحْنُ مُسْتَهْزِئُونَ﴾
[ البقرة: 14]

اور یہ لوگ جب مومنوں سے ملتے ہیں تو کہتے ہیں کہ ہم ایمان لے آئے ہیں، اور جب اپنے شیطانوں میں جاتے ہیں تو (ان سے) کہتے ہیں کہ ہم تمھارے ساتھ ہیں اور (پیروانِ محمدﷺ سے) تو ہم ہنسی کیا کرتے ہیں

(1) شیاطین سے مراد سرداران قریش ویہود ہیں جن کے ایما پر وہ اسلام اور مسلمانوں کے خلاف سازشیں کرتے تھے، یا منافقین کے اپنے سردار۔

Surah baqarah Ayat 14 meaning in urdu

جب یہ اہل ایمان سے ملتے ہیں، تو کہتے ہیں کہ ہم ایمان لائے ہیں اور جب علیحدگی میں اپنے شیطانوں سے ملتے ہیں، تو کہتے ہیں کہ اصل میں تو ہم تمہارے ساتھ ہیں اور ان لوگوں سے محض مذاق کر رہے ہیں

Tafseer Tafheem-ul-Quran by Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi

(2:14) When they meet those who believe, they say, "We, too, are believers", but when they privily meet their evil geniuses, *15 they say, "Indeed we are with you: we are only mocking at these people".

And when they meet those who believe, they say, "We believe"; but meaning

*15). 'Satan' in Arabic means refractory, rebellious and headstrong, and is used for both human beings and jinn. Although this word is generally used in the Qur'an for the satans amongst the jinn, it is also used occasionally for human beings possessing satanic characteristics. The context generally explains whether the word 'satan' refers to jinn or to human beings. In this particular case the word 'satans' refers to those influential leaders of the time who were in the vanguard of opposition and hostility to Islam

Waitha laqoo allatheena amanoo qaloo amanna waitha khalaw ila shayateenihim qaloo inna maAAakum innama nahnu mustahzioona

And when they meet those who believe, they say, "We believe"; but when they are alone with their evil ones, they say, "Indeed, we are with you; we were only mockers."

और जब उन लोगों से मिलते हैं जो ईमान ला चुके तो कहते हैं हम तो ईमान ला चुके और जब अपने शैतानों के साथ तनहा रह जाते हैं तो कहते हैं हम तुम्हारे साथ हैं हम तो (मुसलमानों को) बनाते हैं

আর তারা যখন ঈমানদারদের সাথে মিশে, তখন বলে, আমরা ঈমান এনেছি। আবার যখন তাদের শয়তানদের সাথে একান্তে সাক্ষাৎ করে, তখন বলে, আমরা তোমাদের সাথে রয়েছি। আমরা তো (মুসলমানদের সাথে) উপহাস করি মাত্রা।
