Verse 220 from surah Al-Baqarah

﴿فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ ۗ وَيَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ الْيَتَامَىٰ ۖ قُلْ إِصْلَاحٌ لَّهُمْ خَيْرٌ ۖ وَإِن تُخَالِطُوهُمْ فَإِخْوَانُكُمْ ۚ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ الْمُفْسِدَ مِنَ الْمُصْلِحِ ۚ وَلَوْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ لَأَعْنَتَكُمْ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ﴾
[ البقرة: 220]

Ayat With Urdu Translation

(یعنی) دنیا اور آخرت (کی باتوں) میں (غور کرو) ۔ اور تم سے یتیموں کے بارے میں دریافت کرتے ہیں کہہ دو کہ ان کی (حالت کی) اصلاح بہت اچھا کام ہے۔ اور اگر تم ان سے مل جل کر رہنا (یعنی خرچ اکھٹا رکھنا) چاہو تو وہ تمہارے بھائی ہیں اور خدا خوب جانتا ہے کہ خرابی کرنے والا کون ہے اور اصلاح کرنے والا کون۔ اور اگر خدا چاہتا تو تم کو تکلیف میں ڈال دیتا۔بےشک خدا غالب (اور) حکمت والا ہے

Surah Al-Baqarah Full Urdu

(1) جب یتیموں کا مال ظلما کھانے والوں کے لئے وعید نازل ہوئی تو صحابہ کرام (رضي الله عنه) م ڈر گئے اور یتیموں کی ہر چیز الگ کردی حتیٰ کہ کھانے پینے کی کوئی چیز بچ جاتی، تو اسے بھی استعمال نہ کرتے اور وہ خراب ہوجاتی، اس ڈر سے کہ کہیں ہم بھی اس وعید کے مستحق نہ قرار پاجائیں۔ اس پر یہ آیت نازل ہوئی (ابن کثیر )
(2) یعنی تمہیں بغرض اصلاح وبہتری بھی، ان کا مال اپنے مال میں ملانے کی اجازت نہ دیتا۔

پوچھتے ہیں: یتیموں کے ساتھ کیا معاملہ کیا جائے؟ کہو: جس طرز عمل میں ان کے لیے بھلائی ہو، وہی اختیار کرنا بہتر ہے اگر تم اپنا اور اُن کا خرچ اور رہنا سہنا مشترک رکھو، تو اس میں کوئی مضائقہ نہیں آخر وہ تمہارے بھائی بند ہی تو ہیں برائی کرنے والے اور بھلائی کرنے والے، دونوں کا حال اللہ پر روشن ہے اللہ چاہتا تو اس معاملے میں تم پر سختی کرتا، مگر وہ صاحب اختیار ہونے کے ساتھ صاحب حکمت بھی ہے


Tafseer Tafheem-ul-Quran by Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi

(2:220) And they ask"What ought we to spend (in the way of Allah)"? Say"Spend whatever you can spare." Thus Allah makes His commands clear to you so that you may think about the good of both this world and the Hereafter. They ask you about the right way of dealing with orphans. Say "The right way is that which is for their good." *236 Then there is no harm if you live a common life with them for they are after all your own brethren. Allah knows well the one who means harm and also the one who means good. If Allah had willed He would have been hard upon you in this matter for He is All-Powerful but He is at the same time AlI-Wise.

*236). Before this verse was revealed many severe injunctions had already been revealed regarding the protection of orphans' property. It had been ordained that ' people should not even draw near to the property of the orphan' (6: 152; 17: 34) and that 'those who wrongfully eat the properties of orphans only, fill their bellies with fire' (4: 10). Because of these severe injunctions the orphans' guardians were so over awed that they even separated the food and drink of the orphans from their own; they felt anxious lest anything belonging to the orphans became mixed with their own. It is for this reason that they enquired of the Prophet (peace he on him) what the proper form of their dealings with orphans should be.

Fee alddunya waalakhirati wayasaloonaka AAani alyatama qul islahun lahum khayrun wain tukhalitoohum faikhwanukum waAllahu yaAAlamu almufsida mina almuslihi walaw shaa Allahu laaAAnatakum inna Allaha AAazeezun hakeemun

To this world and the Hereafter. And they ask you about orphans. Say, "Improvement for them is best. And if you mix your affairs with theirs - they are your brothers. And Allah knows the corrupter from the amender. And if Allah had willed, He could have put you in difficulty. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise.

ताकि तुम दुनिया और आख़िरत (के मामलात) में ग़ौर करो और तुम से लोग यतीमों के बारे में पूछते हैं तुम (उन से) कह दो कि उनकी (इसलाह दुरुस्ती) बेहतर है और अगर तुम उन से मिलजुल कर रहो तो (कुछ हर्ज) नहीं आख़िर वह तुम्हारें भाई ही तो हैं और ख़ुदा फ़सादी को ख़ैर ख्वाह से (अलग ख़ूब) जानता है और अगर ख़ुदा चाहता तो तुम को मुसीबत में डाल देता बेशक ख़ुदा ज़बरदस्त हिक़मत वाला है

দুনিয়া ও আখেরাতের বিষয়ে। আর তোমার কাছে জিজ্ঞেস করে, এতীম সংক্রান্ত হুকুম। বলে দাও, তাদের কাজ-কর্ম সঠিকভাবে গুছিয়ে দেয়া উত্তম আর যদি তাদের ব্যয়ভার নিজের সাথে মিশিয়ে নাও, তাহলে মনে করবে তারা তোমাদের ভাই । বস্তুতঃ অমঙ্গলকামী ও মঙ্গলকামীদেরকে আল্লাহ জানেন। আল্লাহ যদি ইচ্ছা করতেন, তাহলে তোমাদের উপর জটিলতা আরোপ করতে পারতেন। নিশ্চয়ই তিনি পরাক্রমশালী, মহাপ্রজ্ঞ।

  8. پوچھو تو کہ جو زینت (وآرائش) اور کھانے (پینے) کی پاکیزہ چیزیں خدا نے اپنے
  9. اور آخرت تمہارے لیے پہلی (حالت یعنی دنیا) سے کہیں بہتر ہے
  10. انہوں نے کہا کہ یہ امر مجھے غمناک کئے دیتا ہے کہ تم اسے لے
