﴿وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا إِلَىٰ ثَمُودَ أَخَاهُمْ صَالِحًا أَنِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ فَإِذَا هُمْ فَرِيقَانِ يَخْتَصِمُونَ﴾
[ النمل: 45]

اور ہم نے ثمود کی طرف اس کے بھائی صالح کو بھیجا کہ خدا کی عبادت کرو تو وہ دو فریق ہو کر آپس میں جھگڑنے لگے

(1) ان سےمراد کافر اور مومن ہیں، جھگڑنے کا مطلب ہر فریق کا یہ دعویٰ ہے کہ وہ حق پر ہے۔

اور ثمود کی طرف ہم نے اُن کے بھائی صالح کو (یہ پیغام دے کر) بھیجا کہ اللہ کی بندگی کرو، تو یکایک وہ دو متخاصم فریق بن گئے

Tafseer Tafheem-ul-Quran by Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi

(27:45) And *57 to Thamud We sent their brother Salih (with the message)that they should worship Allah, but they divided themselves forthwith into two wrangling groups. *58

And We had certainly sent to Thamud their brother Salih, [saying], "Worship meaning

*58) That is, as soon as the Prophet Salih embarked on his mission, his people were divined into two groups, the believers and the disbelievers, and a conflict started between them as stated elsewhere in the Qur'an: "The chiefs of his tribe, who .were full of pride, said to those who had believed from among the oppressed people, 'Do you know it for certain that Salih is a Messenger from his Lord?' They replied, `Indeed, we believe in the message with which he has been sent.' But those who had arrogant assumption of superiority, said, `We deny that which you believe'." (Al-A'raf: 75-76). One should note that precisely the same situation arose in Makkah at the advent of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (may Allah's peace be upon him). The nation was divided into two factions and a conflict started between them. Therefore, this story fully applied to the conditions in which these verses were revealed.

Walaqad arsalna ila thamooda akhahum salihan ani oAAbudoo Allaha faitha hum fareeqani yakhtasimoona

And We had certainly sent to Thamud their brother Salih, [saying], "Worship Allah," and at once they were two parties conflicting.

Quran Hindi translation

और अब मैं सुलेमान के साथ सारे जहाँ के पालने वाले खुदा पर ईमान लाती हूँ और हम ही ने क़ौम समूद के पास उनके भाई सालेह को पैग़म्बर बनाकर भेजा कि तुम लोग ख़ुदा की इबादत करो तो वह सालेह के आते ही (मोमिन व काफिर) दो फरीक़ बनकर बाहम झगड़ने लगे

আমি সামুদ সম্প্রদায়ের কাছে তাদের ভাই সালেহকে এই মর্মে প্রেরণ করেছি যে, তোমরা আল্লাহর এবাদত কর। অতঃপর তারা দ্বিধাবিভক্ত হয়ে বিতর্কে প্রবৃত্ত হল।
