Surah Qalam ayat 25 Tafsir Quran 68:25

﴿وَغَدَوْا عَلَىٰ حَرْدٍ قَادِرِينَ﴾
[ القلم: 25]

68:25 And they went early in determination, [assuming themselves] able.

And they went forth early supposing themselves able to prohibit to prevent the poor folk from enjoying the fruit.

And thus they finally and firmly resolved not to be moved from their purpose and course of action

قَالُواْ سُبْحَـنَ رَبّنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَـلِمِينَ- فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ يَتَلَـوَمُونَ- قَالُواْ يوَيْلَنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا طَـغِينَ- عَسَى رَبُّنَآ أَن يُبْدِلَنَا خَيْراً مّنْهَآ إِنَّآ إِلَى رَبّنَا رغِبُونَ- كَذَلِكَ الْعَذَابُ وَلَعَذَابُ الاْخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ لَوْ كَانُواْ يَعْلَمُونَ-

(68:25) They went forth early, believing that they had the power (to gather the fruit). *15

And they went early in determination, [assuming meaning

*15) The word hard in Arabic is used for hindering and withholding, for a purpose and resolution, and for making haste; hence, the composite rendering adopted by us.

 

قَالُواْ سُبْحَـنَ رَبّنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَـلِمِينَ- فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ يَتَلَـوَمُونَ- قَالُواْ يوَيْلَنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا طَـغِينَ- عَسَى رَبُّنَآ أَن يُبْدِلَنَا خَيْراً مّنْهَآ إِنَّآ إِلَى رَبّنَا رغِبُونَ- كَذَلِكَ الْعَذَابُ وَلَعَذَابُ الاْخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ لَوْ كَانُواْ يَعْلَمُونَ-

They went betimes) they went to their fields holding rancour, ( strong in (this ) purpose) to pluck their fruits.

And they went in the morning with strong intention, thinking that they have power (to prevent the poor taking anything of the fruits therefrom).
