Quran 11:86 Tafsir Al-Jalalayn
The remainder which is from God that provision of His which remains for you after you have given full measure and weight is better for you than fraud if you are believers; and I am not a guardian over you’ a watcher that I should requite you for your deeds I was sent only as a warner.
Almuntakhab Fi Tafsir Alquran Alkarim
The legitimate profits you people gain lawfully according with piety and blessed by Allah are but an advantage to your cause if indeed your hearts are impressed with the image of religious and spiritual virtues. But you must remember, I am not here to watch over your innocence and folly
Quran 11:86 Tafsir Ibn Kathir
First, he ( Shu`ayb ) prohibited them from cheating in business by decreasing the weights whenever they gave ( products ) to people.
He commanded them to give just measure and weight whether they were giving or receiving ( in transactions ).
He also forbade them from causing mischief and corruption in the land.
This was due to their practice of highway robbery along the roads.
Abu Ja`far bin Jarir said,
بَقِيَّتُ اللَّهِ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ
( That which is left by Allah (after giving the rights of the people ) is better for you,) "This means what you gain from your successful business dealings in which you have given just measure, is better for you than wrongfully taking the wealth of the people." Ibn Jarir said that this statement has been reported from Ibn `Abbas and I say it is similar to Allah's statement,
قُل لاَّ يَسْتَوِى الْخَبِيثُ وَالطَّيِّبُ وَلَوْ أَعْجَبَكَ كَثْرَةُ الْخَبِيثِ
( Say: "Not equal are Khabith (all that is evil ) and Tayyib ( all that is good ), even though the abundance of Khabith may please you.")5:100 Allah then says,
وَمَآ أَنَاْ عَلَيْكُمْ بِحَفِيظٍ
( And I am not a guardian over you. ) This means a watcher over you people.
In other words, "Do this for Allah and not to be seen by the people."
Tafseer Tafheem-ul-Quran Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi
(11:86) The gains that Allah lets you retain are better for you, if you indeed believe. In any case, I have not been appointed a keeper over you. *95
What remains [lawful] from Allah is best meaning
*95).
Shu'ayb ( peace be on him ) made it clear to his people that he had no power to compel them to adopt one kind of behaviour or another.
His task was merely that of a sincere adviser.
All he could do was to admonish and warn them.
It was up to them either to pay heed to that advice or to disregard it.
What really mattered was that one day all human beings will be mustered by God to render an account of their deeds.
It is this - the rendering of an account before God - that people should truly fear.
It matters little whether they care for Shu'ayb or not.
What really matters is whether they have any fear of standing before God's judgement.
If they do fear this, it is essential that they give up the iniquity in which they are engrossed.
Tafsir Maarif-ul-Quran Mufti Muhammad Shafi

Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
( That which Allah leaveth with you ) Allah’s reward for being honest in measure and weight ( is better for you ) it is said that this means: that which Allah leaves for you of the lawful is better than that which you steal by cheating in measure and weight ( if ye are believers ) if you believe in what I tell you; ( and I am not a keeper over you ) to protect, for Jethro was not commanded to fight them.
Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali
"That which is left by Allah for you (after giving the rights of the people) is better for you, if you are believers. And I am not set over you as a guardian.
