We try our best to translate, keeping in mind the Italian saying: "Traduttore, traditore", which means: "Translation is a betrayal of the original text".
Faqaloo anu'minu libasharayni mithlina waqawmuhuma lana AAabidoon translate in arabic
فقالوا أنؤمن لبشرين مثلنا وقومهما لنا عابدون
سورة: المؤمنون - آية: ( 47 ) - جزء: ( 18 ) - صفحة: ( 345 )Tafseer Tafheem-ul-Quran by Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi
(23:47) They said, "What! should we believe in these two men who are human beings like ourselves40-a and whose people are our bondsmen?" *41
Faqaaloo annu`minu libasharaini mislinaa wa qawmuhumaa lanaa `aabidoon
*41) Abid is worshipper. According to the Arabic usage, to be a "worshipper" and a "bondsman" are almost synonymous. Therefore when the Prophets invited their people to worship Allah alone, they wanted them to worship and serve and obey none but Allah, and that is the real significance of the word " `ibadat". For further explanation, see E.N. 50 of AI-Kahf (XVIII).
