surah Araf aya 197 , English translation of the meaning Ayah.
﴿وَالَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ نَصْرَكُمْ وَلَا أَنفُسَهُمْ يَنصُرُونَ﴾
[ الأعراف: 197]
7:197 And those you call upon besides Him are unable to help you, nor can they help themselves."
Tafsir Ibn Katheer in EnglishThose you call upon O idolators from amongst these idols, are not able to help you, and are not able to help themselves.
For they are utterly incapable, unable to do anything.
So how can you call upon them instead of calling upon Allah?

"And those whom you call upon besides Him (Allah) cannot help you nor can they help themselves."

Waallatheena tadAAoona min doonihi la yastateeAAoona nasrakum wala anfusahum yansuroona

"But those ye call upon besides Him, are unable to help you, and indeed to help themselves."

And those whom you call upon besides Him (Allah) cannot help you nor can they help themselves.
