Surah Tawbah ayat 126 Tafsir Quran 9:126

﴿أَوَلَا يَرَوْنَ أَنَّهُمْ يُفْتَنُونَ فِي كُلِّ عَامٍ مَّرَّةً أَوْ مَرَّتَيْنِ ثُمَّ لَا يَتُوبُونَ وَلَا هُمْ يَذَّكَّرُونَ﴾
[ التوبة: 126]

9:126 Do they not see that they are tried every year once or twice but then they do not repent nor do they remember?

Do they not see that is the hypocrites in which case read a-wa-lā yarawna; or if read a-wa-lā tarawna ‘do you O believers not see’ that they are tested afflicted every year once or twice? with drought and diseases. Still they do not repent of their hypocrisy nor do they remember nor do they heed admonition.

Do they not perceive by physical and mental sight what is below the surface! They are subjected to a severe test and a strain and they are put to straits once or twice every year that they may hopefully in lowliest plight repentant stand, but they neither repent nor do they reflect

(9:126)Do these people not see that they are tried once or twice every year? *125 Yet, still they do not repent or learn a lesson from this.

Do they not see that they are meaning

*125) That is, during the course of every year such circumstances are created as put to test once or twice their claim to the Faith, and these disclose that their profession of Islam was like a counterfeit coin.
For instance, some time their Faith is tested by ( a ) a Commandment of the Qur'an which lays some new restriction on their lust, or by ( b ) a demand of the Faith that hits hard at their selfinterests, or by ( c ) an internal dispute which discloses their pr.
ference for worldly interests and for their personal, family and clannish relations to Allah, His Messenger and the Faith, or by ( d ) a war that requires the sacrifice of their lives, wealth, time and energies.
All these tests help bring to the open that filth of hypocrisy that lay hidden in their hearts under the garb of the profession of Islam.
Besides, these things increase that filth which had already gathered in their hearts because of their deviations from the implications of the Faith.

 

( See they not ) i.e. the hypocrites ( that they are tested ) that they are tried by the revelation of their evil scheming and betrayal; it is also said that they are tried by the breaking of their covenants ( once or twice in every year? Still they turn not in repentance ) for their deeds and for the breaking of their treaties, ( neither pay they heed ) nor do they accept any admonition.

See they not that they are tried once or twice every year (with different kinds of calamities, disease, famine, etc.)? Yet, they turn not in repentance, nor do they learn a lesson (from it).
