Quran 6:147 Tafsir Al-Jalalayn
So if they deny you with regard to what you have brought then say to them ‘Your Lord has all-embracing mercy for He does not hasten to bring about your punishment — herein is a gentle summoning of them to the faith; and His might His chastisement when it comes will never be driven back from the sinning folk’.
Almuntakhab Fi Tafsir Alquran Alkarim
Should they disbelieve you O Muhammad then say to them: Allahs mercy is vast; it is extended to all, especially to those who repent. But His indignation against those who grow daily more and more wicked is irrevocable
Quran 6:147 Tafsir Ibn Kathir
( Say: "Your Lord is the Owner of vast mercy..." ) encouraging them to seek Allah's vast mercy and follow His Messenger,
( and never will His wrath be turned back from the people who are criminals. ) discouraging them from defying the Messenger, the Final Prophet, Muhammad ﷺ.
Allah often joins encouragement with threats in the Qur'an.
Allah said at the end of this Surah:
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ سَرِيعُ الْعِقَابِ وَإِنَّهُ لَغَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
( Surely, your Lord is swift in retribution, and certainly He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. ) 6:165 Allah also said,
( But verily, your Lord is full of forgiveness for mankind in spite of their wrongdoing.
And verily, your Lord is (also ) severe in punishment.) 13:6, and
( Declare unto My servants, that truly, I am the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful.
And that My torment is indeed the most painful torment. ) 15:49-50, and
( The Forgiver of sin, the Acceptor of repentance, the Severe in punishment. ) 40:3 and,
( Verily, the punishment of your Lord is severe and painful.
Verily, He it is Who begins and repeats.
And He is Oft-Forgiving, full of love. )85:12-14.
There are many other Ayat on this subject.
Tafseer Tafheem-ul-Quran Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi
(6:147) 'Then if they give you the lie, say: 'Your Lord is of unbounded mercy; but His punishment shall not be averted from the guilty folk.' *123
So if they deny you, [O Muhammad], meaning
*123).
If they could still give up their disobedience and return to the true service of God, they would find Him ready to embrace them with His mercy.
But if they persisted, they should remember that no one could save them from His wrath.

Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
( So if they give the lie to thee ) O Muhammad regarding the prohibitions that We described to you, ( say: Your Lord is a Lord of all-embracing mercy ) towards the pious and sinner alike, in that He defers torment to the next life, ( and His wrath ) His torment ( will never be withdrawn from guilty folk ) the idolaters.
Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali
If they (Jews) belie you (Muhammad SAW) say you: "Your Lord is the Owner of Vast Mercy, and never will His Wrath be turned back from the people who are Mujrimun (criminals, polytheists, sinners, etc.)."
We try our best to translate, keeping in mind the Italian saying: "Traduttore, traditore", which means: "Translation is a betrayal of the original text".
