7:37 And who is more unjust than one who invents about Allah a lie or denies His verses? Those will attain their portion of the decree until when Our messengers come to them to take them in death, they will say, "Where are those you used to invoke besides Allah?" They will say, "They have departed from us," and will bear witness against themselves that they were disbelievers.

Quran 7:37 Tafsir Al-Jalalayn
And who — that is none — does greater evil than he who invents a lie against God by ascribing to Him a partner or a child or denies His signs? the Qur’ān. Those — their portion their lot of the Scripture of what has been inscribed as theirs in the Preserved Tablet al-lawh al-mahfūz in the way of provision term of life and other matters shall reach them until when Our messengers the angels come to them to take their souls they say to them in reprimand ‘Where is that which you were calling upon worshipping beside God?’ They will say ‘They have gone astray from us’ they are not present before us and so we cannot see them; and they will bear witness against themselves upon death that they were disbelievers.
Almuntakhab Fi Tafsir Alquran Alkarim
Who is more wrong than he who viscously and wrongfully relates to Allah falsehood or denies His revelations and signs betokening Omnipotence and Authority! Such persons do have what has been apportioned to them in life according to their good or bad books, just as they do have access to the share of the Book imparted to them by Our Messengers. And when Our angels of death disembody their souls at the predetermined point of time, they ask them: where now are those you incorporated with Allah and invoked besides Him!. They have forsaken and renounced us they say, and failed our expectation So; they were witnesses of their own actions and of their deeds reflecting infidelity and disobedience to Allah
Quran 7:37 Tafsir Ibn Kathir
Idolators enjoy Their destined Share in This Life, but will lose Their Supporters upon Death
Allah said,
( Who is more unjust than one who invents a lie against Allah or rejects His Ayat ) meaning, none is more unjust than whoever invents a lie about Allah or rejects the Ayat that He has revealed.
Muhammad bin Ka`b Al-Qurazi said that,
( For such their appointed portion will reach them from the Book ) refers to each person's deeds, alloted provisions and age.
Similar was said by Ar-Rabi` bin Anas and `Abdur-Rahman bin Zayd bin Aslam.
Allah said in similar statements,
( Verily, those who invent a lie against Allah, will never be successful.
(A brief ) enjoyment in this world! And then unto Us will be their return, then We shall make them taste the severest torment because they used to disbelieve.) 10:69-70 and,
( And whoever disbelieves, let not his disbelief grieve you.
To Us is their return, and We shall inform them what they have done.
Verily, Allah is the All-Knower of what is in the breasts (of men ).
We let them enjoy for a little while.) 31:23-24.
Allah said next,
( until when Our messengers come to them to take their souls. ) Allah states that when death comes to the idolators and the angels come to capture their souls to take them to Hellfire, the angels horrify them, saying, "Where are the so-called partners ( of Allah ) whom you used to call in the life of this world, invoking and worshipping them instead of Allah Call them so that they save you from what you are suffering." However, the idolators will reply,
( "They have vanished and deserted us" ) meaning, we have lost them and thus, we do not hope in their benefit or aid,
( And they will bear witness against themselves ) they will admit and proclaim against themselves,
( that they were disbelievers. )
Tafseer Tafheem-ul-Quran Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi
(7:37) Who is more unjust then he who invents a falsehood, ascribing it to Allah, or who rejects His revelation as false? Their full portion of God's Decree shall reach them, *29 until Our deputed angels come to them to take charge of their souls, and say: 'Where are the deities now, those whom you invoked besides Allah?' They will say: 'They are all gone away from us.' And they shall bear witness against themselves that they were unbelievers.
And who is more unjust than one meaning
*29), All men, whether good or bad, have been granted a definite term in this world which they will spend and obtain their share of worldly happiness and misery.

Give them respite, O Muhammad, ( till, when Our messengers ) i.e. the angel of death and his helpers ( come to gather them ) to take away their souls, ( they say ) upon taking away their souls: ( Where (now ) is that to which ye cried) worshipped ( beside Allah ) so that they can help you? ( And they testify against themselves that they were disbelievers ) in Allah and the messengers in the life of this world.
Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali
Who is more unjust than one who invents a lie against Allah or rejects His Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.)? For such their appointed portion (good things of this worldly life and their period of stay therein) will reach them from the Book (of Decrees) until, when Our Messengers (the angel of death and his assistants) come to them to take their souls, they (the angels) will say: "Where are those whom you used to invoke and worship besides Allah," they will reply, "They have vanished and deserted us." And they will bear witness against themselves, that they were disbelievers.
