Quran 29:60 Tafsir Al-Jalalayn
And how many ka-ayyin means kam an animal there is that does not bear its own provision on account of its inability to do so. Yet God provides for it and for you O Emigrants al-muhājirūn even when you carry with you neither supplies nor substance. And He is the Hearer of your sayings the Knower of your consciences.
Almuntakhab Fi Tafsir Alquran Alkarim
How many among Allahs created beings do not provide themselves with livelihood! Allah provides them with what is necessary for their sustenance as He does provision you -people- with victuals, eatables and drinkables, and He is AL-Sami , and AL-Alim
Quran 29:60 Tafsir Ibn Kathir
Advice to migrate and the Promise of Provision and a Goodly Reward
Allah commands His believing servants to migrate from a land in which they are not able to establish Islam, to the spacious earth of Allah where they can do so, by declaring Allah to be One and worshipping Him as He has commanded.
Allah says:
( O My servants who believe! Certainly, spacious is My earth.
Therefore worship Me. ) When things became too difficult for the believers in Makkah who were in a weak position and were oppressed, they left and migrated to Ethiopia, where they were able to practice their religion.
The Muslims found Ethiopia the best place for guest; where Ashamah, the Negus or king, may Allah have mercy on him, gave them refuge, helped them, supported them, and honored them in his land.
Later, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his remaining Companions migrated to Al-Madinah, formerly known as Yathrib, may Allah protect it.
Then Allah says:
( Everyone shall taste death.
Then unto Us you shall be returned. ) meaning, `wherever you are, death with catch up with you, so always obey Allah and be where Allah commands you to be, for this is better for you.
Death is inevitable and there is no escape from it, and then you will return to Allah, and whoever was obedient to Him will have the best reward.' Allah says:
( And those who believe and do righteous good deeds, to them We shall surely give lofty dwellings in Paradise, underneath which rivers flow, ) meaning, `We shall cause them to dwell in lofty homes in Paradise under which various kinds of rivers flow -- water, wine, honey and milk -- which they can direct and cause to flow wherever they wish.'
( to live therein forever. ) means, they will remain there forever, never wanting to leave.
( Excellent is the reward for the workers. ) these rooms will be a blessed reward for the good deeds of the believers,
( Those who are patient, ) in adhering to their religion, who migrated for the sake of Allah and fought the enemy, leaving behind their families and relatives to seek Allah's Face, and hoping for that which is with Him, believing His promise.
Ibn Abi Hatim, may Allah have mercy on him, recorded from Abu Mu`aniq Al-Ash`ari that Abu Malik Al-Ash`ari told him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ told him:
( In Paradise there are rooms whose outside can be seen from the inside, and their inside can be seen from the outside; Allah has prepared them for those who feed others, who speak well, who pray and fast continually, and who stand in prayer at night while people are asleep. )
( and put their trust in their Lord. ) in all their affairs, spiritual and worldly alike.
Then Allah tells us that provision is not limited only to one place, but it is given to all His creatures no matter where they are.
Indeed, when the Muhajirin migrated, their provision was greater and better than before, because after a short time they became rulers in the land, in all regions.
Allah says:
( And so many a moving creature carries not its own provision! ) meaning, it does not have the ability to gather its provision and save it for tomorrow.
( Allah provides for it and for you. ) means, Allah allots its provision to it even though it is weak, and makes it easy for it.
He sends provision to every creature in the appropriate manner, even the ants in the depths of the earth, the birds in the air and the fish in the sea.
Allah says:
( And no moving creature is there on earth but its provision is due from Allah.
And He knows its dwelling place and its deposit.
All is in a Clear Book. ) ( 11:6 )
( And He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. ) means, He hears all that His servants say and He knows their every movements.
Tafseer Tafheem-ul-Quran Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi
(29:60) How many an animal there is that does not carry about its sustenance. Allah provides sustenance to them and to you. He is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. *99
And how many a creature carries not meaning
*99) That is, " While migrating you should not be worried about your means of livelihood as you should not worry about your life's safety.
For none of the birds and the animals of the land and the sea that you find around yourself carries its provision with it.
Allah is providing for all of them; wherever they go they get their provision through Allah's bounty.
Therefore, do not be disheartened by the thought that if you left your homes for the sake of your faith, you would have nothing to eat.
AIlah will provide for you as well from the sources from which He is providing for the countless of His other creatures: " Precisely the same thing was taught by the Prophet Jesus ( may Allah's peace be upon him ) to his disciples when he had said: " No tnan can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold :o the one, and despise the other.
Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on.
Is not the life more than treat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them.
Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall .we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? ( For after all these things do the Gentiles seek ) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.
Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. " ( Mate.
6: 2434 ).
The background of these discourses of the Qur'an and the Gospel is the same.
There always comes a stage in the way of the propagation of the Truth when the follower of the Truth is left with no alternative but to stake his very life only with trust in Allah, regardless of the support and means of the material world.
In these conditions, those who are too calculating about the possibilities of the future and seeking guarantees of the saftey of life and assurance of provisions cannot do anything.
Indeed, such conditions are changed only by the efforts and power of those who rise fearlessly in face of every danger and are even prepared to risk their very lives.
It is all due to their sacrifices that ultimately the Word of Allah is raised high and all other words and creeds stand humbled and subdued before it.
