Surah Hud ayat 102 Tafsir Quran 11:102

﴿وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَخْذُ رَبِّكَ إِذَا أَخَذَ الْقُرَىٰ وَهِيَ ظَالِمَةٌ ۚ إِنَّ أَخْذَهُ أَلِيمٌ شَدِيدٌ﴾
[ هود: 102]

11:102 And thus is the seizure of your Lord when He seizes the cities while they are committing wrong. Indeed, His seizure is painful and severe.

Such like that seizing is the seizing of your Lord when He seizes the towns meaning its inhabitants while they are doing wrong by way of sins in other words nothing can avail them in any way when He seizes them. Truly His seizing is painful severe. The two Shaykhs Bukhārī and Muslim reported by way of an isnād from Abū Mūsā al-Ash‘arī that he said ‘The Prophet s said “God gives extended respite to the evildoer but when He seizes him there is no escape for him” whereupon the Prophet s recited the verse Such is the seizing of your Lord Q. 11102 above’.

Thus much is the punishment of Allah, your Creator, when He overtakes the towns whose inhabitants are wrongful of actions and grow daily more and more wicked. The divine act of overthrowing the wicked is indeed painful and terrifying

Such is the punishment of your Lord when He seizes the ( population of ) towns while they are doing wrong.
Verily, His punishment is painful ( and ) severe.) It is as though Allah is saying, "Just as We have destroyed these wicked generations who rejected their Messengers, We will do the same to any who are like them ( 102 ) إِنَّ أَخْذَهُ أَلِيمٌ شَدِيدٌ ( Verily, His punishment is painful (and ) severe.) In the Two Sahihs, it is recorded that Abu Musa said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, إِنَّ اللهَ لَيُمْلِي لِلظَّالِمِ حَتَّى إِذَا أَخَذَهُ لَمْ يُفْلِتْهُ ( Verily, Allah gives respite to a wrongdoer until He seizes him and he cannot escape. ) Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited, وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَخْذُ رَبِّكَ إِذَا أَخَذَ الْقُرَىٰ وَهِيَ ظَالِمَةٌ ( Such is the punishment of your Lord when He seizes the towns while they are doing wrong. )

( Even thus is the grasp of your Lord ) the chastisement of your Lord ( when He graspeth the townships ) when He chastises the people of these townships ( while they are doing wrong ) when they are disbelievers and idolaters. ( Lo! His grasp ) His chastisement ( is painful, very strong ).

Such is the Seizure of your Lord when He seizes the (population of) towns while they are doing wrong. Verily, His Seizure is painful, and severe.
