﴿فَعَصَوْا رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَهُمْ أَخْذَةً رَّابِيَةً﴾
[ الحاقة: 10]
69:10 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity].
Tafsir Ibn Katheer in EnglishEach of them disobeyed their Messengers who were sent to them and rejected them, so Allah seized them with a seizing that exceeded the force required to destroy them.

And they disobeyed their Lord's Messenger, so He punished them with a strong punishment.

FaAAasaw rasoola rabbihim faakhathahum akhthatan rabiyatan

And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty.
