surah Ahqaf aya 22 , English translation of the meaning Ayah.
﴿قَالُوا أَجِئْتَنَا لِتَأْفِكَنَا عَنْ آلِهَتِنَا فَأْتِنَا بِمَا تَعِدُنَا إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ﴾
[ الأحقاف: 22]
46:22 They said, "Have you come to delude us away from our gods? Then bring us what you promise us, if you should be of the truthful."
Tafsir Ibn Katheer in EnglishHis people said to him: “Have you come to us to turn us away from worshipping our gods? That will never happen for you, so bring us the punishment you promise us if you are true in what you claim”.
Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali
They said: "Have you come to turn us away from our aliha (gods)? Then bring us that with which you threaten us, if you are one of the truthful!"
phonetic Transliteration
Qaloo ajitana litafikana AAan alihatina fatina bima taAAiduna in kunta mina alssadiqeena
Abdullah Yusuf Ali - Translation
They said: "Hast thou come in order to turn us aside from our gods? Then bring upon us the (calamity) with which thou dost threaten us, if thou art telling the truth?"
Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri
They said: "Have you come to delude us from our gods Then bring us that with which you threaten us, if you are one of the truthful!"
We try our best to translate, keeping in mind the Italian saying: "Traduttore, traditore", which means: "Translation is a betrayal of the original text".
