surah Hijr aya 58 , English translation of the meaning Ayah.
﴿قَالُوا إِنَّا أُرْسِلْنَا إِلَىٰ قَوْمٍ مُّجْرِمِينَ﴾
[ الحجر: 58]
15:58 They said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a people of criminals,
Tafsir Ibn Katheer in EnglishThe Messenger from the Angels said: Allah has sent us to destroy a people who are guilty of great corruption and evil, the people of Lot.

They (the angels) said: "We have been sent to a people who are Mujrimun (criminals, disbelievers, polytheists, sinners).

Qaloo inna orsilna ila qawmin mujrimeena
Abdullah Yusuf Ali - Translation
They said: "We have been sent to a people (deep) in sin,
Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri
They said: "We have been sent to a guilty people."

*34) The fact that the angels did not name the people of Lot but merely referred to them as "the wicked people", shows that these people had become so notorious for their wicked deeds that there was no need to mention them by name before Prophet Abraham, who was well acquainted with the moral condition of all the people around him.
