surah Kahf aya 12 , English translation of the meaning Ayah.
﴿ثُمَّ بَعَثْنَاهُمْ لِنَعْلَمَ أَيُّ الْحِزْبَيْنِ أَحْصَىٰ لِمَا لَبِثُوا أَمَدًا﴾
[ الكهف: 12]
18:12 Then We awakened them that We might show which of the two factions was most precise in calculating what [extent] they had remained in time.
Tafsir Ibn Katheer in EnglishThen after their lengthy sleep I woke them up to demonstrate which of the two groups disputing their duration of stay in the cave knows this duration best.

Then We raised them up (from their sleep), that We might test which of the two parties was best at calculating the time period that they had tarried.

Then We roused them, in order to test which of the two parties was best at calculating the term of years they had tarried!

We try our best to translate, keeping in mind the Italian saying: "Traduttore, traditore", which means: "Translation is a betrayal of the original text".
