Quran 11:100 Tafsir Al-Jalalayn
That which is mentioned dhālika is the subject the predicate of which follows is something of the tidings of the towns which We relate to you O Muhammad (s). Some of them that is of the towns are standing only its inhabitants having been destroyed and some of them have been cut down destroyed together with its inhabitants such that there are no vestiges thereof much like crops harvested with sickles.
Almuntakhab Fi Tafsir Alquran Alkarim
Such a historic account of the towns is a narrative of facts and events We relate to you O Muhammad; some of them are still standing -in evidence- and others have been mowed down
Quran 11:100 Tafsir Ibn Kathir
The Lesson taken from the Destroyed Towns
When Allah mentioned the story of the Prophets and what happened with them and their nations -- how He destroyed the disbelievers and saved the believers -- He goes on to say,
( That is some of the news of the (population of ) towns) meaning, news of them
( which We relate unto you; of them, some are (still ) standing,) This means still remaining.
( and some have been (already ) reaped.) This means totally destroyed.
( We wronged them not, ) This means, "When We destroyed them."
( but they wronged themselves. ) their rejecting their Messengers and disbelieving in them.
( So their gods, profited them not... ) This is referring to their idols that they used to worship and invoke.
( other than Allah naught ) the idols did not benefit them, nor did they save them when Allah's com- mand came for their destruction.
( nor did they add aught to them but destruction. ) Mujahid, Qatadah and others said, "This means loss.
Because the reason for their destruction and their ruin was that they followed those false gods.
Therefore, they were losers in this life and the Hereafter."

Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
( That ) which I have mentioned ( is (something ) of the tidings of the townships) of the news of past nations in this world. ( We relate it unto thee (Muhammad )) We send Gabriel down to you with their news. ( Some of them are standing ) and can be seen while their people have vanished ( and some (already ) reaped) and some of them have turned into ruin, the people and the townships.
Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali
These are some of the news of the (population of) towns which We relate unto you (O Muhammad SAW); of them, some are standing, and some have been (already) reaped.
We try our best to translate, keeping in mind the Italian saying: "Traduttore, traditore", which means: "Translation is a betrayal of the original text".
