Quran 25:31 Tafsir Al-Jalalayn
God exalted be He says So just as We have appointed for you enemies from among the idolaters of your people We have appointed to every prophet before you an enemy from among the guilty the idolaters — so be steadfast as they were; but your Lord suffices as a Guide for you and a Helper to bring you victory over your enemies.
Almuntakhab Fi Tafsir Alquran Alkarim
Thus We applied to every prophet some enemies from the transgressors against the divine law who are characterized by satanic attributes. But enough is Allah, your Creator to be the guide -to whom He will- and to afford help -to whom He will
Quran 25:31 Tafsir Ibn Kathir
The Messenger will complain against His Opponents
Allah tells how His Messenger and Prophet Muhammad ﷺ will say: "O my Lord! Verily, my people deserted this Qur'an." The idolators would not listen to the Qur'an, as Allah says:
وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لاَ تَسْمَعُواْ لِهَـذَا الْقُرْءَانِ وَالْغَوْاْ فِيهِ
( And those who disbelieve say: "Listen not to this Qur'an, and make noise in the midst of it." ) ( 41:26 ).
When he would recite Qur'an to them, they would talk nonsense or speak about something else, so that they would not hear it.
This is a form of forsaking it and rejecting it, and not believing in it is the same as forsaking it, and not pondering its meanings and trying to understand it is the same as forsaking it, and not acting upon it and following its commandments and heeding its prohibitions is the same as forsaking it, and turning away from it in favor of poetry or other words or songs or idle talk or some other way is the same as forsaking it.
We ask Allah, the Most Generous, the Bestower of bounty, the One Who is able to do what He wills, to keep us safe from doing that which earns His wrath and to use us to do that which will earn His pleasure of preserving and understanding His Book, following its commandments night and day in the manner which He loves and which pleases Him, for He is Generous and Kind.
( Thus have We made for every Prophet an enemy among the criminals. ) means, `just as there is for you, O Muhammad, those people who scorned the Qur'an, so in all the previous nations did Allah make for every Prophet an enemy among the criminals, who called people to their misguidance and disbelief,' as Allah says:
وَكَذَلِكَ جَعَلْنَا لِكُلِّ نِبِىٍّ عَدُوّاً شَيَـطِينَ الإِنْسِ وَالْجِنِّ
( And so We have appointed for every Prophet enemies -- Shayatin among mankind and Jinn ) as stated in these two Ayat.
( 6:112 ) Allah says here:
( But sufficient is your Lord as a Guide and Helper. ) meaning, for the one who follows His Messenger and believes in His Book, Allah will be his Guide and Helper in this world and the Hereafter.
Allah says
( a Guide and Helper. ) because the idolators used to try to prevent people from following the Qur'an lest anyone be guided by it.
They wanted their way to prevail over the way of the Qur'an.
Allah says:
( Thus have We made for every Prophet an enemy among the criminals. )
Tafseer Tafheem-ul-Quran Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi
(25:31) O Muhammad, in this very way We have made the criminals the enemies of every Prophet, *42 but your Lord suffices for you as your Guide and Helper. *43
And thus have We made for every meaning
*42) That is, " It is not a new thing that the disbelievers have become your enemies, for it has always been so with all the former Prophets and Messengers.
( See also Al-An'am: 112-113 ).
This is inevitable because it is Our Law that the criminals will always oppose the Truth.
You should, therefore, pursue your mission with full confidence and determination without expecting any immediate results. "
*43) " Guidance " does not only imply bestowing of the knowledge of the Truth, but it also means giving the right guidance at the right time to guide the Islamic Movement on the right lines and to defeat the strategy and scheme of the enemies of Islam " Help " means all kinds of moral, spiritual and material help to the followers of the Truth in their conflict against falsehood.
Thus, Allah is AllSufficient for the righteous people and they need no other support provided they have full faith in Allaln and fight falsehood with all their energies and strength.
This meant to encourage the Holy Prophet, otherwise the previous assertion would have been very discouraging without this.
It meant to say, " Even :f the unbelievers have become your enemies, you should continue your mission, for We shall guide you in every stage and situation and help you against them.
We shall defeat aII the schemes of your enemies and help you in every way in your conflict with falsehood.
We shall provide you with material means also, but you should trust in Us and exert your utmost against falsehood. "

Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
( Even so ) just as We have appointed Abu Jahl as your enemy ( have We appointed unto every Prophet ) before you ( an opponent from among the guilty ) from the idolaters of his people; ( but Allah sufficeth for a Guide ) a Preserver ( and Helper ) and Defender against what they plot against you.
Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali
Thus have We made for every Prophet an enemy among the Mujrimun (disbelievers, polytheists, criminals, etc.). But Sufficient is your Lord as a Guide and Helper.
We try our best to translate, keeping in mind the Italian saying: "Traduttore, traditore", which means: "Translation is a betrayal of the original text".
