7:43 And We will have removed whatever is within their breasts of resentment, [while] flowing beneath them are rivers. And they will say, "Praise to Allah, who has guided us to this; and we would never have been guided if Allah had not guided us. Certainly the messengers of our Lord had come with the truth." And they will be called, "This is Paradise, which you have been made to inherit for what you used to do."

Quran 7:43 Tafsir Al-Jalalayn

We shall strip away all rancour all spite that existed between them in the world that is in their breasts; and beneath them beneath their palaces flow rivers; and they will say once they have settled in their dwellings ‘Praise be to God Who guided us to this action the reward of which is this Paradise; for we would surely never have been guided if God had not guided us the response to the conditional law lā ‘if … not’ is omitted because it is indicated by the preceding clause. Verily the messengers of our Lord did bring the truth.’ And it is cried to them an is read softened that is understand it as annahu; alternatively it is an explicative particle in all five places here and the four to follow ‘This is your Paradise; you have inherited it for what you used to do’.

Almuntakhab Fi Tafsir Alquran Alkarim

We will delete all that was embedded of bitter ill -feeling from their bosoms and blot out all that lurked in their memories of grudge and hatred so as to make the clouds of the past dissolve in the glorious light .They shall jointly rejoice beyond a common joy, and in the ecstasy of their joy they shall enjoy the blissful rivers flowing beneath them and interpret their feeling of gratitude in words, thus: Praise be to Allah and exalted are His glorious attributes: He guided us to His path of righteousness, and without His guidance we would have missed it and we would have been alienated from His purpose .Indeed His Messengers have brought us illumination and enlightenment and brought the truth which dawned upon us and upon those who, had worshipped stocks and stones earlier. There and then they shall be told: This is Paradise of which you have come into possession by right and divine grant

Quran 7:43 Tafsir Ibn Kathir

Destination of Righteous Believers After Allah mentioned the condition of the miserable ones, He then mentioned the condition of the happy ones, saying, وَالَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ الصَّـلِحَاتِ ( But those who believed, and worked righteousness ) Their hearts have believed and they performed good deeds with their limbs and senses, as compared to those who disbelieved in the Ayat of Allah and were arrogant with them.
Allah also said that embracing faith and implementing it are easy, when He said, وَالَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ الصَّـلِحَاتِ لاَ نُكَلِّفُ نَفْسًا إِلاَّ وُسْعَهَا أُوْلَـئِكَ أَصْحَـبُ الْجَنَّةِ هُمْ فِيهَا خَـلِدُونَ وَنَزَعْنَا مَا فِى صُدُورِهِم مِّنْ غِلٍّ ( But those who believed, and worked righteousness -- We burden not any person beyond his scope -- such are the dwellers of Paradise.
They will abide therein.
And We shall remove from their breasts any Ghill; )
meaning, envy and hatred.
Al-Bukhari recorded that Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said,
( After the believers are saved from entering the Fire, they will be kept in wait by a bridge between Paradise and Hellfire.
Then, transgression that occurred between them in the life of this world will be judged.
Until, when they are purified and cleansed, they will be given permission to enter Paradise.
By He in Whose Hand is my soul! One of them will be able to find his dwelling in Paradise more so than he did in the life of this world. )
As-Suddi said about Allah's statement, وَنَزَعْنَا مَا فِى صُدُورِهِم مِّنْ غِلٍّ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهِمُ الاٌّنْهَـرُ ( And We shall remove from their breasts any Ghill; rivers flowing under them, ) "When the people of Paradise are taken to it, they will find a tree close to its door, and two springs from under the trunk of that tree.
They will drink from one of them, and all hatred will be removed from their hearts, for it is the cleansing drink.
They will take a bath in the other, and the brightness of delight will radiate from their faces.
Ever after, they will never have messy hair or become dirty." An-Nasa'i and Ibn Marduwyah ( this being his wording ) recorded that Abu Hurayrah said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said,
( Each of the people of Paradise will see his seat in the Fire and he will say, `Had not Allah guided me! And this will cause him to be grateful.
Each of the people of the Fire will see his seat in Paradise, and he will say, `Might that Allah had guided me!' So it will be a cause of anguish for him. )
This is why when the believers are awarded seats in Paradise that belonged to the people of the Fire, they will be told, "This is the Paradise that you inherited because of what you used to do.
" This means, because of your good deeds, you earned Allah's mercy and thus entered Paradise and took your designated dwellings in it, comparable to your deeds.
This is the proper meaning here, for it is recorded in the Two Sahihs that the Prophet said,
«وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ لَنْ يُدْخِلَهُ عَمَلُهُ الْجَنَّة»
( And know that the good deeds of one of you will not admit him into Paradise. ) They said, "Not even you, O Allah's Messenger" He said,
«وَلَا أَنَا إِلّا أَنْ يَتَغَمَّدَنِيَ اللهُ بِرَحْمَةٍ مِنْهُ وَفَضْل»
( Not even I, unless Allah grants it to me out of His mercy and favor. )

Tafseer Tafheem-ul-Quran Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi

(7:43) We shall strip away all rancour from their hearts, *32 and rivers shall flow beneath them, and they shall say: 'All praise be to Allah Who has guided us on to this. Had it not been for Allah Who granted us guidance, we would not be on the Right Path. Surely the Messengers of our Lord did indeed come down with truth.' Then a voice will cry out to them: 'This is the Paradise which you are made to inherit as a reward for your deeds.'  *33

And We will have removed whatever is meaning

*32).
If there develops any rancour or ill-will among good people during the course of their worldly lives, such rancour and will be removed in the Hereafter.
Their hearts will be purged of all hostile feelings and they will enter Paradise as cordial friends.
They will not feel envious towards those who had formerly been opposed or hostile to them that they share with them the bounties of Paradise.
Significantly, 'Ali once recited this very verse and remarked: 'I wish that I and 'Uthman and Talhah and al-Zubayr will be among those about whom God has said: " And We shall take away all rancour from their hearts " ' ( verse 43 ).
( See Qurtubi's comments on verse 43 - Ed. )
Reflection on the verse leads one to conclude that out of His mercy, God will first purge the righteous of their blemishes.
This will be done before admitting them to Paradise.
Thus they will enter Paradise in a state of untainted purity.

*33).
This refers to something of a fine and delicate character that will take place in Paradise.
Instead of boasting about their virtuous deeds which led them to Paradise, the righteous will thank and praise God profusely and acknowledge His grace and mercy without which they could never have entered Paradise.
On the other hand, God will not impress His bounty upon the righteous; He will rather emphasize that Paradise is granted to them by way of compensation for their righteous conduct, that it is the fruit of their hard labour; that it is not like the crumbs of charity but a fair recompense for their striving.
The subtlety involved here is further brought into relief by the fact that the above response will not be made by God.
It will rather be just announced to them.

What is said above about the Hereafter may be discerned in the attitude of the righteous in the world itself.
The wicked and arrogant ones take great pride in their worldly attainments and ascribe them to their own efforts.
They firmly, believe that what they have achieved is the fruit of their labour.
Swaved by such notions, they continue to act even more haughtily.
Conversely the righteous look upon all the bounties which they receive as favours from God.
Accordingly, they thank and praise Him out of gratitude.
The more they are lavished with worldly favours, the more humble and generous they become.
Moreover, they do not suffer from the illusion that their righteousness will certainly earn them their salvation.
On the contrary, they consistently repent over their lapses and earnestly turn to God in the hope that He will pardon them out of His grace and mercy.
They are always fearful of God's reckoning lest their evil deeds are found to outweigh their good deeds.
According to a tradition the Prophet ( peace he on him ) said: 'Know well that none will he able to enter Paradise by dint of his good deeds.' When asked if that would apply to him as well, the Prophet ( peace he on him ) replied: 'Yes, in my case as well; unless God covers me with His mercy and favour.' ( Bukhari, Kitab al-Riqaq, 'Bab al-Qasd wa a Mudawamah ala al-Amal' - Ed. )

Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs

( And We remove whatever rancour ) resentful envy or enmity ( may be in their hearts ) in the life of this world. ( Rivers ) of wine, water, honey and milk ( flow beneath them ) beneath their habitations and beds in the Hereafter. ( And they say ) when they reach their habitations; and it is said: when they reach the source of life: ( The praise to Allah ) gratitude and benevolence are Allah’s, ( Who hath guided us to this ) to this habitation and source. ( We could not truly have been led aright if Allah had not guided us ) to it; it is also said that when they see Allah’s favour when He bestowed faith upon them, they said: praise and thanks are due to Allah Who has guided us to the religion of Islam, and we would not have been guided to the religion of Islam had not Allah guided us to it. ( Verily the messengers of our Lord did bring the Truth ) they brought truth, glad tiding, reward and favour. ( And it is cried unto them: This is the Garden. Ye inherit it ) you were given it ( for what ye used to do ) and say of good things in the life of this world.

Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali

And We shall remove from their breasts any (mutual) hatred or sense of injury (which they had, if at all, in the life of this world); rivers flowing under them, and they will say: "All the praises and thanks be to Allah, Who has guided us to this, never could we have found guidance, were it not that Allah had guided us! Indeed, the Messengers of our Lord did come with the truth." And it will be cried out to them: "This is the Paradise which you have inherited for what you used to do."
