Surah Anfal ayat 52 Tafsir Quran 8:52

﴿كَدَأْبِ آلِ فِرْعَوْنَ ۙ وَالَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ كَفَرُوا بِآيَاتِ اللَّهِ فَأَخَذَهُمُ اللَّهُ بِذُنُوبِهِمْ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَوِيٌّ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ﴾
[ الأنفال: 52]

8:52 [Theirs is] like the custom of the people of Pharaoh and of those before them. They disbelieved in the signs of Allah, so Allah seized them for their sins. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and severe in penalty.

The way of these people is like the way of Pharaoh’s folk and those before them they disbelieved in God’s signs and so God seized them with chastisement because of their sins the sentence beginning with kafarū ‘they disbelieved’ explains the previous one. Truly God is strong in what He wills severe in retribution.

These peoples disposition and attitude of mind do not differ from those of the Pharaoh and his people and their predecessors; they denied Allah and rejected His signs and revelations; so great was Allahs indignation against them for their wickedness that He took them by storm. Allah is indeed Qawiyun (Omnipotent); His torment is laid upon the damned

Allah says, `The behavior of these rebellious disbelievers against what I sent you with, O Muhammad, is similar to the behavior of earlier disbelieving nations.
So We behaved with them according to Our Da'b, that is, Our behavior or custom and way, as We did with them with what We often do and decide concerning their likes, the denying people of Fir`awn and the earlier nations who rejected the Messengers and disbelieved in Our Ayat,' فَأَخَذَهُمُ اللَّهُ بِذُنُوبِهِمْ ( so Allah punished them for their sins. ) Because of their sins, Allah destroyed them إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَوِىٌّ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ ( Verily, Allah is All-Strong, severe in punishment. ) none can resist Him or escape His grasp.

( (Their way is ) as the way of Pharaoh’s folk) as the doing of the folk of Pharaoh ( and those before them; they disbelieved the revelations of Allah ) they disbelieved in Allah’s Book and Messenger; He says: the disbelievers of Mecca disbelieved in Muhammad ( pbuh ) and in the Qur’an just as Pharaoh and his folk, and those before them, disbelieved in Scriptures and messengers sent to them, ( and Allah took them in their sins ) in their disbelief. ( Lo! Allah is Strong ) in His seizing, ( severe in punishment ) when He punishes.

Similar to the behaviour of the people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and of those before them; they rejected the Ayat (proofs, verses, etc.) of Allah, so Allah punished them for their sins. Verily, Allah is All-Strong, Severe in punishment.
