﴿أَمِ اتَّخَذَ مِمَّا يَخْلُقُ بَنَاتٍ وَأَصْفَاكُم بِالْبَنِينَ﴾
[ الزخرف: 16]
43:16 Or has He taken, out of what He has created, daughters and chosen you for [having] sons?
Tafsir Ibn Katheer in EnglishO idolaters! Do you say: “Allah has chosen daughters for Himself from among the things He creates”, whilst He has privileged you with male offspring? What an absurd distribution this is which you claim!

What! has He taken daughters out of what He himself creates, and granted to you sons for choice?
