﴿قَالَ يَا إِبْلِيسُ مَا لَكَ أَلَّا تَكُونَ مَعَ السَّاجِدِينَ﴾
[ الحجر: 32]

15:32 [Allah] said, O Iblees, what is [the matter] with you that you are not with those who prostrate?"

Abridged Explanation of the Quran

After Iblis refused to prostrate to Adam, Allah said to him: What kept you and prevented you from prostrating with the angels, who prostrated out of obedience to My command?

Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali

(Allah) said: "O Iblis (Satan)! What is your reason for not being among the prostrators?"

phonetic Transliteration

Qala ya ibleesu ma laka alla takoona maAAa alssajideena

Abdullah Yusuf Ali - Translation

(Allah) said: "O Iblis! what is your reason for not being among those who prostrated themselves?"

Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri
