﴿قَالَ أَرَاغِبٌ أَنتَ عَنْ آلِهَتِي يَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ ۖ لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ لَأَرْجُمَنَّكَ ۖ وَاهْجُرْنِي مَلِيًّا﴾
[ مريم: 46]

English - Sahih International

19:46 [His father] said, "Have you no desire for my gods, O Abraham? If you do not desist, I will surely stone you, so avoid me a prolonged time."

Abridged Explanation of the Quran

Azar said to his son Abraham ( peace be upon him ): “Are you turning away from the idols I worship, O Abraham? If you do not stop criticising my idols, I shall pelt you with stones.
Leave me for a long time.
Do not talk to me or be with me”.

Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali

He (the father) said: "Do you reject my gods, O Ibrahim (Abraham)? If you stop not (this), I will indeed stone you. So get away from me safely before I punish you."

phonetic Transliteration

Qala araghibun anta AAan alihatee ya ibraheemu lain lam tantahi laarjumannaka waohjurnee maliyyan

Abdullah Yusuf Ali - Translation

(The father) replied: "Dost thou hate my gods, O Abraham? If thou forbear not, I will indeed stone thee: Now get away from me for a good long while!"

Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri

He (the father) said: "Do you revile my gods, O Ibrahim If you stop not (this), I will La'arjumannak. So get away from me Maliyan."

There, the father exclaimed: Do you Ibrahim drop my gods into oblivion and dismiss them as unfit for worship! unless you desist he added, from disqualifying them and treating them as of no importance, I promise I will pelt you with stones. You had better keep away for sometime so that you do not come within the measure of my wrath and until I have forgotten the incident
