Verse 47 from surah An-Nahl

﴿أَوْ يَأْخُذَهُمْ عَلَىٰ تَخَوُّفٍ فَإِنَّ رَبَّكُمْ لَرَءُوفٌ رَّحِيمٌ﴾
[ النحل: 47]

English - Sahih International

16:47 Or that He would not seize them gradually [in a state of dread]? But indeed, your Lord is Kind and Merciful.

Abridged Explanation of the Quran

Or do they feel secure that Allah’s punishment will not come to them while they are afraid of it? Allah is able to punish them in every condition.
Your Lord is compassionate and merciful.
He does not take retribution hastily for perhaps His servants will turn to Him in repentance.

Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali

Or that He may catch them with gradual wasting (of their wealth and health). Truly! Your Lord is indeed full of Kindness, Most Merciful?

Or that He may not call them to account by a process of slow wastage - for thy Lord is indeed full of kindness and mercy.
