Verse 47 from surah Al-Ankabut

﴿وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَنزَلْنَا إِلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ ۚ فَالَّذِينَ آتَيْنَاهُمُ الْكِتَابَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِ ۖ وَمِنْ هَٰؤُلَاءِ مَن يُؤْمِنُ بِهِ ۚ وَمَا يَجْحَدُ بِآيَاتِنَا إِلَّا الْكَافِرُونَ﴾
[ العنكبوت: 47]

English - Sahih International

29:47 And thus We have sent down to you the Qur'an. And those to whom We [previously] gave the Scripture believe in it. And among these [people of Makkah] are those who believe in it. And none reject Our verses except the disbelievers.

Tafsir Ibn Katheer in English

Abridged Explanation of the Quran

And just as I revealed the Books upon those before you, I revealed the Qur’ān upon you.
Some of those who read the Torah, such as Abdullah ibn as Salam believe in the Qur’ān as well, because of what they find of its description in their books.
And from among the idolaters are also those who believe in this Qur’ān.
Only those who are habituated to rejection and denial disbelieve in My signs, despite their clarity.

And thus We have sent down the Book (i.e. this Quran) to you (O Muhammad SAW), and those whom We gave the Scripture [the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel) aforetime] believe therein as also do some of these (who are present with you now like 'Abdullah bin Salam) and none but the disbelievers reject Our Ayat [(proofs, signs, verses, lessons, etc., and deny Our Oneness of Lordship and Our Oneness of worship and Our Oneness of Our Names and Qualities: i.e. Islamic Monotheism)].

Wakathalika anzalna ilayka alkitaba faallatheena ataynahumu alkitaba yuminoona bihi wamin haolai man yuminu bihi wama yajhadu biayatina illa alkafiroona

Abdullah Yusuf Ali - Translation

And thus (it is) that We have sent down the Book to thee. So the People of the Book believe therein, as also do some of these (pagan Arabs): and none but Unbelievers reject our signs.

Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri

And thus We have sent down the Book to you, and those whom We gave the Scripture believe therein as also do some of these and none but the disbelievers reject Our Ayat.

Almuntakhab Fi Tafsir Alquran Alkarim

And just as We had revealed the Book to Messengers before you O Muhammad, We have revealed to you the Book -the Quran- which has been acknowledged by those among Ahl AL-Kitab who applied their minds to the acquisition of learning and thought intently and reflected. And this due recognition is shared by some of your people. And no one denies Our divine discourse and rejects Our revelations but the infidels who deny Allah

Tafseer Tafheem-ul-Quran by Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi

(29:47) (O Prophet), thus have We bestowed the Book on you. *84 So those on whom We had bestowed the Book before believe in it, *85 and of these (Arabs) too a good many believe in it. *86 It is none but the utter unbelievers who deny Our Signs. *87

And thus We have sent down to you the Qur'an. And those meaning

*84) This can have two meanings: (1) "Just as We had sent down the Books to the former Prophets, so We have sent down this Book to you"; and (2) "We have sent down this Book with the teaching that it should be believed in not by rejecting Our former Books but by affirming faith in all of them. "
*85) The context itself shows that this dces not imply all the people of the Book but only those who were blessed with the right understanding and the knowledge of the Divine Scriptures, and were "the people of the Book ' in the we sense. When this last Book of Allah came before them, confirming His earlier Books, they did not show any stubbornness or obstinacy but accepted it sincerely as they had accepted the previous Books.
*86) "These people": the people of Arabia. What it means to say is: The truth-loving people, whether they already possess a Divine Book or do not possess any, are affirming faith in it everywhere.
*87) Here, "the disbelievers" imply those people who are not prepared to give up their prejudices and accept the truth, or those who reject the truth because they do not want their lusts and their unbridled freedom to be subjected to restrictions.

And thus We have sent down to you the Qur'an. And those meaning in Urdu

(اے نبیؐ) ہم نے اِسی طرح تمہاری طرف کتاب نازل کی ہے، اس لیے وہ لوگ جن کو ہم نے پہلے کتاب دی تھی وہ اس پر ایمان لاتے ہیں، اور اِن لوگوں میں سے بھی بہت سے اس پر ایمان لا رہے ہیں، اور ہماری آیات کا انکار صرف کافر ہی کرتے ہیں
