Verse 58 from surah Al-Kahf

﴿وَرَبُّكَ الْغَفُورُ ذُو الرَّحْمَةِ ۖ لَوْ يُؤَاخِذُهُم بِمَا كَسَبُوا لَعَجَّلَ لَهُمُ الْعَذَابَ ۚ بَل لَّهُم مَّوْعِدٌ لَّن يَجِدُوا مِن دُونِهِ مَوْئِلًا﴾
[ الكهف: 58]

English - Sahih International

18:58 And your Lord is the Forgiving, full of mercy. If He were to impose blame upon them for what they earned, He would have hastened for them the punishment. Rather, for them is an appointment from which they will never find an escape.

Abridged Explanation of the Quran

In order for the Prophet ( peace be upon him ) not to look forward to a hasty punishment for those who rejected him, Allah said to him: Your Lord - O Messenger - is One Who forgives the sins of those who repent, and One Whose Mercy encompasses everything.
It is out of His mercy that he grants respite to sinners in order for them to repent to Him.
If He was to punish these people who turn away, He would have hastened the punishment for them in the worldly life.
But He is tolerant and merciful.
He delayed the punishment so that they repent.
They have an appointed time and place in which they will be recompensed for their disbelief and turning away if they do not repent, from which they will find no escape.

Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali

And your Lord is Most Forgiving, Owner of Mercy. Were He to call them to account for what they have earned, then surely, He would have hastened their punishment. But they have their appointed time, beyond which they will find no escape.

But your Lord is Most forgiving, full of Mercy. If He were to call them (at once) to account for what they have earned, then surely He would have hastened their punishment: but they have their appointed time, beyond which they will find no refuge.

They forget that Allah gives them respite because He is Forgiving and Forbearing and does not punish the evil-doers on the spot, for His Mercy demands that the evil-doers should be given respite so that they may mend their ways.

تیرا رب بڑا درگزر کرنے والا اور رحیم ہے وہ ان کے کرتوتوں پر انہیں پکڑنا چاہتا تو جلدی ہی عذاب بھیج دیتا مگر ان کے لیے وعدے کا ایک وقت مقرر ہے اور اس سے بچ کر بھاگ نکلنے کی یہ کوئی راہ نہ پائیں گے
