Verse 81 from surah An-Nisa

﴿وَيَقُولُونَ طَاعَةٌ فَإِذَا بَرَزُوا مِنْ عِندِكَ بَيَّتَ طَائِفَةٌ مِّنْهُمْ غَيْرَ الَّذِي تَقُولُ ۖ وَاللَّهُ يَكْتُبُ مَا يُبَيِّتُونَ ۖ فَأَعْرِضْ عَنْهُمْ وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ ۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِاللَّهِ وَكِيلًا﴾
[ النساء: 81]

English - Sahih International

4:81 And they say, "[We pledge] obedience." But when they leave you, a group of them spend the night determining to do other than what you say. But Allah records what they plan by night. So leave them alone and rely upon Allah. And sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs.

Tafsir Ibn Katheer in English

Abridged Explanation of the Quran

The hypocrites say to you, ‘We follow your instruction and we will act with obedience’.
Yet when they leave you, a group of them secretly plan the opposite of what they said to you.
Allah knows their planning and He will recompense them accordingly.
So turn away from them and pay no attention, as they will not harm you at all.
Surrender your matter to Allah and rely on Him alone for He is sufficient for you as a Guardian to watch over your affairs and take care of you.

Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali

They say: "We are obedient," but when they leave you (Muhammad SAW), a section of them spend all night in planning other than what you say. But Allah records their nightly (plots). So turn aside from them (do not punish them), and put your trust in Allah. And Allah is Ever All-Sufficient as a Disposer of affairs.

They have "Obedience" on their lips; but when they leave thee, a section of them Meditate all night on things very different from what thou tellest them. But Allah records their nightly (plots): So keep clear of them, and put thy trust in Allah, and enough is Allah as a disposer of affairs.

Almuntakhab Fi Tafsir Alquran Alkarim

They -whose faith is greatly shaken- show obedience in your presence O Muhammad and say to you: We obey all that you exhort us to do. But when they depart from where you are, some of them design by night a scheme of action not in accord with your principles, and Allah puts in writing all that they propose to do. Therefore, disregard them and rely upon Allah, and enough is He to be your Tutelary Guardian Who exercises protecting vigilance over you

(4:81) They say (in your presence): 'We obey', but when they leave your presence a party of them meets by night to plan against what you have said. Allah takes note of all their plots. So, let them alone, and put your trust in Allah. Allah is sufficient as a guardian.
