Verse 15 from surah Al-Fajr

﴿فَأَمَّا الْإِنسَانُ إِذَا مَا ابْتَلَاهُ رَبُّهُ فَأَكْرَمَهُ وَنَعَّمَهُ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّي أَكْرَمَنِ﴾
[ الفجر: 15]

English - Sahih International

89:15 And as for man, when his Lord tries him and [thus] is generous to him and favors him, he says, "My Lord has honored me."

Abridged Explanation of the Quran

Because the nations Allah destroyed were blessed with power and strength, Allah explains that blessing them with such is not proof of His being pleased with them.
He says: As for the human, it is in his nature that when he is tested by his Lord and He favours him by blessing him with wealth, honour and offspring, he thinks that it is because of his nobility in the eyes of Allah.
He says: “My Lord has favoured me because of me being worthy of being favoured.
”

Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali

As for man, when his Lord tries him by giving him honour and gifts, then he says (puffed up): "My Lord has honoured me."

Faamma alinsanu itha ma ibtalahu rabbuhu faakramahu wanaAAAAamahu fayaqoolu rabbee akramani

Now, as for man, when his Lord trieth him, giving him honour and gifts, then saith he, (puffed up), "My Lord hath honoured me."

Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri

*8) Now, criticizing the general moral state of the people, it is being said: "After all, why shouldn't the men who have adopted such an attitude in the life of the world, be ever called to account, and how can it be regarded as a demand of reason and justice that when man has left the world, after doing alI he could, he should never receive any reward or suffer any punishment for his deeds?"

مگر انسان کا حال یہ ہے کہ اس کا رب جب اُس کو آزمائش میں ڈالتا ہے اور اُسے عزت اور نعمت دیتا ہے تو وہ کہتا ہے کہ میرے رب نے مجھے عزت دار بنا دیا
