surah Anfal aya 21 , English translation of the meaning Ayah.
﴿وَلَا تَكُونُوا كَالَّذِينَ قَالُوا سَمِعْنَا وَهُمْ لَا يَسْمَعُونَ﴾
[ الأنفال: 21]
8:21 And do not be like those who say, "We have heard," while they do not hear.
Tafsir Ibn Katheer in EnglishAnd do not be O you believers, like the hypocrites and idolators who when the verses of Allah are recited to them, say that they have heard the Qur’ān that has been recited to them, when they have not listened in a reflective way, learning from it so that they would benefit from what they heard.

And be not like those who say: "We have heard," but they hear not.

Wala takoonoo kaallatheena qaloo samiAAna wahum la yasmaAAoona
Abdullah Yusuf Ali - Translation
Nor be like those who say, "We hear," but listen not:
Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri
And be not like those who say: "We have heard," but they hear not.
We try our best to translate, keeping in mind the Italian saying: "Traduttore, traditore", which means: "Translation is a betrayal of the original text".

(8:21) And do not be like those who say: 'We hear', though they do not hearken. *16

*16). In the present context, 'hearing' means taking heed with a view to obey'. The verse alludes to those hypocrites who professed to believe and yet were not willing to carry out the commands of God.
