Quran 6:114 Tafsir Al-Jalalayn

The following was revealed when they asked the Prophet s to appoint an arbiter between him and themselves. Say Shall I seek demand other than God as a judge an arbiter between you and me when it is He Who revealed to you the Book the Qur’ān clearly explained? wherein truth is distinguished from falsehood. Those to whom We have given the Scripture the Torah the likes of ‘Abd Allāh b. Salām and his companions know that it is revealed read munzal or munazzal from your Lord in truth; so do not be of the waverers the doubters regarding it this is intended to affirm to the disbelievers that it is the truth.

Almuntakhab Fi Tafsir Alquran Alkarim

Say to them O Muhammad: Shall I choose a judge besides Allah when it is He Who makes and gives the law whereas all other judges only interpret it? It is He Who has sent down -the Quran- distinctly expressing all that is meant leaving nothing merely implied, .Ahl al-Kitab know it is Allahs sent Book in all truth. Therefore, do not let O Muhammad those who hide the truth and contend with opposing arguments influence your feelings or put you in doubt

Quran 6:114 Tafsir Ibn Kathir

أَفَغَيْرَ اللَّهِ أَبْتَغِى حَكَماً ( Shall I seek a judge other than Allah... ) between you and I, وَهُوَ الَّذِى أَنَزَلَ إِلَيْكُمُ الْكِتَـبَ مُفَصَّلاً ( while it is He Who has sent down unto you the Book, explained... ) in detail, وَالَّذِينَ ءَاتَيْنَـهُمُ الْكِتَـبَ ( and those unto whom We gave the Scripture ) the Jews and the Christians, يَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّهُ مُنَزَّلٌ مِّن رَّبِّكَ بِالْحَقِّ ( know that it is revealed from your Lord in truth. ) because the previous Prophets have conveyed the good news of you coming to them.
Allah's statement, فَلاَ تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْمُمْتَرِينَ ( So be not you of those who doubt. ) is similar to His other statement, فَإِن كُنتَ فِي شَكٍّ مِّمَّآ أَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكَ فَاسْأَلِ الَّذِينَ يَقْرَءُونَ الْكِتَـبَ مِن قَبْلِكَ لَقَدْ جَآءَكَ الْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكَ فَلاَ تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْمُمْتَرِينَ ( So if you are in doubt concerning that which We have revealed unto you, then ask those who are reading the Book before you.
Verily, the truth has come to you from your Lord.
So be not of those who doubt (it )
.) 10:94 The conditional `if' in this Ayah does not mean that `doubt' will ever occur to the Prophet .
Allah said, وَتَمَّتْ كَلِمَةُ رَبِّكَ صِدْقاً وَعَدْلاً ( And the Word of your Lord has been fulfilled in truth and in justice. ) Qatadah commented, "In truth concerning what He stated and in justice concerning what He decided." Surely, whatever Allah says is the truth and He is Most Just in what He commands.
All of Allah's statements are true, there is no doubt or cause for speculation about this fact, and all His commandments are pure justice, besides which there is no justice.
All that He forbade is evil, for He only forbids what brings about evil consequences.
Allah said in another Ayah, يَأْمُرُهُم بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَـهُمْ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ ( He commands them with good; and forbids them from evil... ) 7:157 until the end of the Ayah. لاَ مُبَدِّلَ لِكَلِمَـتِهِ ( None can change His Words. ) meaning, none can avert Allah's judgment whether in this life or the Hereafter, وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ ( And He is the All-Hearer, ) Hearing, His servants' statements, الْعَلِيمُ ( The All-Knower. ) of their activities and lack of activity, Who awards each according to their deeds.

Tafseer Tafheem-ul-Quran Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi

(6:114) Shall I look upon anyone apart from Allah for judgement when it is He Who has revealed to you the Book in detail? *81 And those whom We gave the Book (before you) know that this (Book) has been revealed in truth by your Lord. Do not, then, be among the doubters. *82

[Say], "Then is it other than Allah meaning

*81).
The implied speaker in this sentence is the Prophet ( peace be on him ) and the words are addressed to the Muslims.
The purpose of the sentence is to impress upon the Muslims that God has elucidated the relevant truths, and has also proclaimed that in their endeavour to make the Truth prevail they will have to follow the path of striving and struggle.
The devotees of the Truth should, therefore, resort to those means which human beings normally employ for the successful achievement of their objectives rather than wait for any supernatural intervention that would enable them to achieve their mission without struggle and sacrifice.
Moreover, since God Himself had chosen that human effort rather than supernatural intervention should lead to the prevalence of the Truth, who had the power to change this basic fact and bring about the victory of the Truth without any resort to human effort and sacrifice.

*82).
This is no mere concoction designed to explain away the current problems.
All those versed in the Scriptures, and possessing true understanding of the mission of the Prophets ( peace be on them all ), will confirm that everything in the Qur'an is perfectly true and in fact constitutes that eternal truth which cannot suffer any change or modification.

Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs

Then, say to them, O Muhammad: ( Shall I seek other than Allah for judge ) shall I worship as Lord other than Allah, ( when He it is who has revealed unto you ) you are your prophet ( (this ) Scripture) this Qur’an through the intermediary of Gabriel, ( fully explained? ) explaining fully the lawful and the unlawful; it is also said: it is revealed in instalments, a few verses on each occasion. ( Those unto whom We gave the Scripture ) those to whom We have given knowledge of the Torah, i.e. ’Abdullah Ibn Salam and his followers ( know ) are certain on the basis of their Scripture ( that it ) i.e. the Qur’an ( is revealed from thy Lord in truth ) with commands and prohibitions; it is also said that this means: Gabriel is sent by your Lord with the Truth, i.e. with the Qur’an. ( So be not thou (O Muhammad ) of the waverers) of those who doubt that they might not know this.

Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali

[Say (O Muhammad SAW)] "Shall I seek a judge other than Allah while it is He Who has sent down unto you the Book (The Quran), explained in detail." Those unto whom We gave the Scripture [the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] know that it is revealed from your Lord in truth. So be not you of those who doubt.
