Surah Shuara ayat 117 Tafsir Quran 26:117

﴿قَالَ رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوْمِي كَذَّبُونِ﴾
[ الشعراء: 117]

26:117 He said, "My Lord, indeed my people have denied me.

He Noah said ‘My Lord my people have denied me

And there Nuh prayed: My people, O Allah, my Creator, disbelieved me and refused credence to Your message

His People's Threat, Nuh's Prayer against Them, and Their Destruction Nuh stayed among his people for a long time, calling them to Allah night and day, in secret and openly.
The more he repeated his call to them, the more determined were they to cling to their extreme disbelief and resist his call.
In the end, they said: لَئِنْ لَّمْ تَنْتَهِ ينُوحُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْمُرْجُومِينَ ( If you cease not, O Nuh you will surely be among those stoned. ) meaning, `if you do not stop calling us to your religion,' لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْمُرْجُومِينَ ( you will surely be among those stoned. ) meaning, `we will stone you.' At that point, he prayed against them, and Allah responded to his prayer.
Nuh said: رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوْمِى كَذَّبُونِفَافْتَحْ بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَهُمْ فَتْحاً ( My Lord! Verily, my people have denied me.
Therefore judge You between me and them. ) This is like the Ayah: فَدَعَا رَبَّهُ أَنُّى مَغْلُوبٌ فَانتَصِرْ ( Then he invoked his Lord (saying ): "I have been overcome, so help ( me )!")( 54:10 ) And Allah says here: فَأَنجَيْنَـهُ وَمَن مَّعَهُ فِى الْفُلْكِ الْمَشْحُونِ - ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا بَعْدُ الْبَـقِينَ ( And We saved him and those with him in the laden ship.
Then We drowned the rest thereafter. ) The "laden ship" is one that is filled with cargo and the couples, one pair from every species, that were carried in it.
This Ayah means: `We saved Nuh and all of those who followed him, and We drowned those who disbelieved in him and went against his commands, all of them.' إِنَّ فِى ذَلِكَ لأَيَةً وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ ( Verily, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers.
And verily your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. ) كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌ الْمُرْسَلِينَ - إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ هُودٌ أَلاَ تَتَّقُونَ - إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ - فَاتَّقُواْ اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ - وَمَآ أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلاَّ عَلَى رَبِّ الْعَـلَمِينَ - أَتَبْنُونَ بِكُلِّ رِيعٍ ءَايَةً تَعْبَثُونَ

(26:117) Noah prayed: "My Lord, my people have treated me as a liar: *85

He said, "My Lord, indeed my people meaning

*85) That is, " They have rejected me completely and absolutely and now there is no hope of their becoming believers. " Here nobody should have the misunderstanding that just after this conversation between Prophet Noah and the chiefs of his people, and the rejection of his message by them, the Prophet submitted a report to AIIah that his people had rejected him and now He should settle the accounts between them.
The Qur'an has mentioned at different places the details of the long struggle that went on for centuries between Prophet Noah and his people, who persisted in unbelief.
According to verse 14 of Surah AI'Ankabut, the struggle continued for 950 years: " He ( Noah ) remained among them for a thousand years save fifty years. " Prophet Noah during this long period studied their collective behaviour, generation after generation, and came to the conclusion that they had no inclination to accept the Truth, and formed the opinion that in their future generations also there was no hope of anybody's becoming a believer and adopting the righteous attitude: " My Lord, if You should leave them, they will lead Your servants astray, and they will bear as children none but sinners and disbelievers. " ( Nuh: 27 ).
AIlah Himself confirmed this opinion of Noah, saying, " No more of your people will believe in you now than those who have already believed.
So do not grieve at their misdeeds. " ( Hud: 36 )

( He said ) Noah said: ( My Lord! Lo! my own folk deny me ) regarding the message, and have killed those strangers who believed in me.

He said: "My Lord! Verily, my people have belied me.
