Quran 10:3 Tafsir Al-Jalalayn

Truly your Lord is God Who created the heavens and the earth in six days of the days of this world that is in the same measure of time since there was no sun or moon then had He willed He could have created them in an instant but the reason for His not having done so is that He wanted to teach His creatures to be circumspect; then He presided upon the Throne a presiding befitting of Him directing affairs among creatures. There is no mā min indicates a relative clause intercessor to intercede for anyone save after His permission a refutation of their saying ‘The idols intercede for us!’; that Creator and Director is God your Lord so worship Him affirm His Oneness. Will you not remember? tadhakkarūna the original tā’ of tatadhakkarūna has been assimilated with the dhāl.

Almuntakhab Fi Tafsir Alquran Alkarim

Allah, your Creator is He Who has created the heavens and the earth in six* days determined by His own unit of time and proclaimed in His calendar. Then set He Himself on the Throne of supremacy and dominion, of grace and mercy. He conducts all affairs, and no intercessor is permitted to intercede on behalf of another without His permission. This is Allah, your Creator; you had better revere Him, regard Him with extreme respect and devotion and adore Him with appropriate acts and rites; can you not reflect

Quran 10:3 Tafsir Ibn Kathir

Allah is the Creator Who arranges the Affairs of the Universe Allah tells us that He is the Lord of the entire existence.
He tells us that He created the heavens and the earth in six days.
It was said: "Like these days ( meaning our worldly days )." It was also said: "Every day is like a thousand years of what we reckon." Later, this will be discussed further. ثُمَّ اسْتَوَى عَلَى الْعَرْشِ ( and then rose over (Istawa ) the Throne.)" The Throne is the greatest of the creatures and is like a ceiling for them.
Allah's statement: يُدَبِّرُ الاٌّمْرَ ( arranging the affair of all things. ) means that He controls the affairs of the creatures. لاَ يَعْزُبُ عَنْهُ مِثْقَالُ ذَرَّةٍ فِى السَّمَـوَتِ وَلاَ فِى الاٌّرْضِ ( Not even the weight of a speck of dust escapes His Knowledge in the heavens or in the earth. ) ( 34:3 ) No affair distract' Him from other affairs.
No matter troubles Him.
The persistent requests of His creatures do not annoy Him.
He governs big things as He governs small things everywhere, on the mountains, in the oceans, in populated areas, or in wastelands. وَمَا مِن دَآبَّةٍ فِي الاٌّرْضِ إِلاَّ عَلَى اللَّهِ رِزْقُهَا ( And no moving creature is there on earth but its provision is due from Allah. ) ( 11:6 ) وَمَا تَسْقُطُ مِن وَرَقَةٍ إِلاَّ يَعْلَمُهَا وَلاَ حَبَّةٍ فِى ظُلُمَـتِ الاٌّرْضِ وَلاَ رَطْبٍ وَلاَ يَابِسٍ إِلاَّ فِى كِتَـبٍ مُّبِينٍ ( Not a leaf falls, but He knows it.
There is not a grain in the darkness of the earth nor anything fresh or dry, but is written in a Clear Record. )
( 6:59 ) Ad-Darawardi narrated from Sa`d bin Ishaq bin Ka`b bin `Ujrah that he said: "When this Ayah was revealed, إِنَّ رَبَّكُمُ اللَّهُ الَّذِى خَلَقَ السَمَـوَتِ وَالاٌّرْضَ ( Surely, your Lord is Allah Who created the heavens and the earth ) they met a great caravan whom they thought should be Arabs.
They said to them: `Who are you' They replied: `We are Jinns.
We left Al-Madinah because of this Ayah."' This was recorded by Ibn Abi Hatim.
Allah said: مَا مِن شَفِيعٍ إِلاَّ مِن بَعْدِ إِذْنِهِ ( No intercessor (can plead with Him ) except after He permits.) This is similar to what is in the following Ayat: مَن ذَا الَّذِى يَشْفَعُ عِندَهُ إِلاَّ بِإِذْنِهِ ( Who is he that can intercede with Him except with His permission ) ( 2:255 ) and, وَكَمْ مِّن مَّلَكٍ فِى السَّمَـوَتِ لاَ تُغْنِى شَفَـعَتُهُمْ شَيْئاً إِلاَّ مِن بَعْدِ أَن يَأْذَنَ اللَّهُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيَرْضَى ( And there are many angels in the heavens, whose intercession will avail nothing except after Allah has given leave for whom He wills and is pleased with. )( 53:26 ), and; وَلاَ تَنفَعُ الشَّفَـعَةُ عِندَهُ إِلاَّ لِمَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ ( Intercession with Him profits not except for him whom He permits.
)
( 34:23 ).
Allah then said: ذلِكُمُ اللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ فَاعْبُدُوهُ أَفَلاَ تَذَكَّرُونَ ( That is Allah, your Lord; so worship Him (alone ).
Then, will you not remember) meaning worship Him alone with no partners. أَفَلاَ تَذَكَّرُونَ ( Then will you not remember ) meaning "O idolators, you worship gods with Allah while you know that He alone is the Creator," as He said: وَلَئِن سَأَلْتَهُم مَّنْ خَلَقَهُمْ لَيَقُولُنَّ اللَّهُ ( And if you ask them who created them, they will surely say: "Allah." )( 43:87 ), قُلْ مَن رَّبُّ السَّمَـوَتِ السَّبْعِ وَرَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ سَيَقُولُونَ لِلَّهِ قُلْ أَفَلاَ تَتَّقُونَ ( "Say: "Who is (the ) Lord of the seven heavens, and ( the ) Lord of the Great Throne They will say: "Allah." Say: "Will you not then have Taqwa") ( 23:86-87 ), Similar is mentioned in the Ayah before this Ayah and after it.

Tafseer Tafheem-ul-Quran Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi

(10:3) Surely your Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in six days, then established Himself on the Throne (of His Dominion), governing all affairs of the universe. *4 None may intercede with Him except after obtaining His leave. *5 Such is Allah, your Lord; do therefore serve Him. *6 Will you not take heed? *7

Indeed, your Lord is Allah, who created meaning

*4).
There is no reason to believe that after having created everything God chose to consign Himself to the limbo of unconcern.
On the contrary, after His great act of creation He established Himself on the Throne and holds the reins of the entire universe so that He not only reigns but in fact also effectively rules over the universe.
The Qur'an considers it a colossal error - an error to which the ignorant have succumbed - to believe that after creating the universe God either left it to run on its own, or entrusted its affairs to others to govern it as they please.
On the contrary, the Qur'an emphasizes that it is God Who is directing all the affairs of His creation; that all power effectively rests with Him alone.
The Qur'an constantly drives home the point that God alone has all authority so that all that takes place in the universe or in any part of it takes place by His command or His leave.
God's relationship with the universe is not simply that He created it; rather the reins of the universe are with Him and He is in effective and continual control of its affairs.
It is He alone Who keeps the universe in existence and it is He alone Who directs it as He pleases.
{See Towards Understanding the Qur'an, vol.
III, al-A'raf, nn.
41-2, pp.
33-4.)
*5).
No one is in a position to interfere with God in His governance of the universe, or has the power to effectively intercede with God on anyone else's behalf and to prevail upon Him to change any of His decisions.
Nor is anyone in such a position of power with God that his intercession would make or unmake anyone else's destiny.
The utmost that a person can do is to pray to God.
However, the acceptance or non-acceptance of such prayers rests solely with Him.
No one is so powerful that his desire will, of necessity, always prevail with God, nor does anyone's intercession bind God to act according to the former's desire.

*6).
After emphasizing the given fact of God's lordship in the first part of the verse, man is now informed of its logical consequences.
Since all authority rests solely with God, it is incumbent upon man to serve Him exclusively.
God's lordship embraces the three-fold attributes of His being
( i ) the Sustainer,
( ii ) the Master, and
( iii ) the Sovereign.

In like manner, the term 'ibadah embraces the three-fold corresponding implications that man should
( i )worship,
( ii ) serve, and
( iii ) obey God.

*7).
Since man has been informed of the fundamental truths and has been shown the right way, there is no justification for him to remain engrossed in those false conceptions which have caused him to act in a manner altogether inconsistent with the reality.

Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs

( Lo! your Lord is Allah Who created the heavens and the earth in six days ) of the days of the life of this world at its beginning. The first day is Sunday and the last is Friday, and each day the equivalent of one thousand years, ( then He established Himself upon the Throne ) it is also said that this means: the Throne was filled by Him, ( directing all things ) directing the matters of His servants; it is also said that this means: He looks into the affairs of the servants; and it is also said that this means: He sends the angels with revelations and misfortunes. ( There is no intercessor (with Him )) no close angel and no sent prophet will intercede for anyone ( save after His permission ) save after Allah’s leave. ( That is Allah, your Lord ) it is your Lord Who does thus, ( so worship Him ) profess His divine Oneness. ( Oh, will ye not remind? ) will you not take heed?

Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali

Surely, your Lord is Allah Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days and then Istawa (rose over) the Throne (really in a manner that suits His Majesty), disposing the affair of all things. No intercessor (can plead with Him) except after His Leave. That is Allah, your Lord; so worship Him (Alone). Then, will you not remember?
