Quran 29:33 Tafsir Al-Jalalayn
And when Our messengers came to Lot he was distressed on their account he was grieved because of them and he was constrained unable to help them because they had handsome faces dressed as guests and thus he feared for them from his people. So they informed him that they were the messengers of his Lord. But they said ‘Do not be afraid nor grieve. We shall surely deliver you read munajjūka or munjūka and your family except your wife she is of those who will remain behind ahlaka ‘your family’ is in the accusative as a supplement to the suffixed direct object pronoun kāf of munajjūka ‘We shall surely deliver you’.
Almuntakhab Fi Tafsir Alquran Alkarim
And when Our Messengers went to Lut he came to grief on their account, and their safety was beyond his power. But they assured him: Do not be afraid, they said, nor must you grieve, we will deliver you to safety along with your family but not your wife who shall join company with those destined to be left behind
Quran 29:33 Tafsir Ibn Kathir
The Angels went to Ibrahim and then to Lut, may peace be upon them both
When Lut, peace be upon him, asked Allah to help him against them, Allah sent angels to help him.
They first came to Ibrahim in the form of guests, so he offered them hospitality in the appropriate manner.
When he saw that they had no interest in the food, he felt some mistrust of them and was fearful of them.
They started to calm him down and gave him the news of a righteous son born by his wife Sarah, who was present, and she was astonished by this, as we have already explained in our Tafsir of Surat Hud and Surat Al-Hijr.
When they brought this news to Ibrahim and told him that they were sent to destroy the people of Lut, he began to speak up for them, hoping to win more time for them so that they might be guided by Allah.
When they said, "We have come to destroy the people of this township,"
( (Ibrahim ) said: "But there is Lut in it." They said: "We know better who is there.
We will verily, save him and his family except his wife, she will be of those who remain behind.") meaning, one of those who will be destroyed, because she used to support them in their disbelief and wrongdoing.
Then the angels left him and visited Lut in the form of handsome young men.
When he saw them like that,
سِىءَ بِهِمْ وَضَاقَ بِهِمْ ذَرْعًا
( he was grieved because of them, and felt straitened on their account. ) means, he was worried since if he had them as guests then he was afraid for them and what his people might do to them, but if he did not host them, he was still afraid of what might happen to them.
At that point he did not know who they were.

Verily, we are about to bring down on the people of this town a great torment from the sky, because they have been rebellious." ) Jibril, peace be upon him, uprooted their town from the depths of the earth, lifted it up to the sky, then threw it upside down upon them.
Allah rained upon them:
فَلَمَّا جَآءَ أَمْرُنَا جَعَلْنَا عَـلِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهَا حِجَارَةً مِّن سِجِّيلٍ مَّنْضُودٍ - مُّسَوَّمَةً عِندَ رَبِّكَ وَمَا هِى مِنَ الظَّـلِمِينَ بِبَعِيدٍ

Marked from your Lord; and they are not ever far from the evil doers. ) 11:82-83 Allah turned the place where they had lived into a putrid, stinking lake, which will remain as a lesson to mankind until the Day of Resurrection, and they will be among those who are most severely punished on the Day of Resurrection.

Tafseer Tafheem-ul-Quran Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi
(29:33) When Our emissaries came to Lot he was distressed and embarrassed on their account. They said: 'Do not fear nor be distressed. *58 We shall save you and all your household except your wife who is among those that will stay behind.
And when Our messengers came to Lot, meaning
*58) That is, " As for us, you should neither fear that they will in any way he able to harm us, nor be anxious about how you will protect us from them. " This was the time when the angels revealed their identity to the Prophet Lot, and said that they were not men but angels, who had been sent to bring the scourge on his people.
According to the elucidation in Surah Hud, when the people were rushing into Lot's house and he felt that he could in no way save his guests from them, he cried out: " I wish I had the power to set you right, or I could fmd some strong support for refuge. "' ( v.
80 ) At this time the angels said: " O Lot, we are messengers sent by your Lord; they will not be able to harm you at all. " ( v.
81 ).

( And when Our messengers ) Gabriel and the angels who were with him ( came unto Lot, he was troubled upon their account ) he disliked their coming, ( for he could not protect them ) from the abominable act of his people; ( but they ) Gabriel and the angels ( said: Fear not ) for us, ( nor grieve ) about us, for fear of our peril! ( Lo! we are to deliver you ) from your people ( and your household ) and your two daughters, ( (all ) save your wife) the hypocrite, ( who is of those who stay behind ) and be destroyed.
Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali
And when Our Messengers came to Lout (Lot), he was grieved because of them, and felt straitened on their account. They said: "Have no fear, and do not grieve! Truly, we shall save you and your family, except your wife, she will be of those who remain behind (i.e. she will be destroyed along with those who will be destroyed from her folk).
