Quran 33:38 Surah Ahzab ayat 38 Tafsir Ibn Katheer in English
33:38 There is not to be upon the Prophet any discomfort concerning that which Allah has imposed upon him. [This is] the established way of Allah with those [prophets] who have passed on before. And ever is the command of Allah a destiny decreed.

Quran 33:38 Tafsir Al-Jalalayn
There is no restriction for the Prophet in what God has ordained in what He has made lawful for him that is God’s precedent sunnata’Llāhi is in the accusative because the operator of the oblique has been removed from the oblique construction ka-sunnati’Llāhi ‘as is God’s precedent’ with those who passed away before of prophets which is that there is no restriction for them in this respect a special dispensation for them regarding marriage — and God’s commandment what He does is inexorable destiny
Almuntakhab Fi Tafsir Alquran Alkarim
The Prophet incurs no blame nor does he stand at the mark of criticism when he carries into effect an edict issued by Allah; a mode of action Allah had pursued with the prophets of old. And Allahs edict has always been determinable, authoritatively decided and definitely ascertained
Quran 33:38 Tafsir Ibn Kathir
مَّا كَانَ عَلَى النَّبِىِّ مِنْ حَرَجٍ فِيمَا فَرَضَ اللَّهُ لَهُ
( There is no blame on the Prophet in that which Allah has made legal for him. ) means, in that which has been permitted for him and which he has been commanded to do, i.e.
his marrying Zaynab, may Allah be pleased with her,, who had been divorced by his adopted son Zayd bin Harithah,
سُنَّةَ اللَّهِ فِى الَّذِينَ خَلَوْاْ مِن قَبْلُ
( That has been Allah's way with those who have passed away of old. ) means this is the ruling of Allah for the Prophets who came before him.
Allah would not command them to do anything for which they might be blamed.
This is a refutation of those hypocrites who imagined that there was anything wrong with his marrying the ex-wife of Zayd, his freed slave and adopted son.
وَكَانَ أَمْرُ اللَّهِ قَدَراً مَّقْدُوراً
( And the command of Allah is a decree determined. ) means, His command which He has decreed must inevitably come to pass; nothing can prevent it or avert it, for whatever He wills happens, and whatever He does not decree, does not happen.
Tafseer Tafheem-ul-Quran Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi
(33:38) There could be no hindrance to the Prophet regarding what Allah ordained for him. *74 Such has been Allah's Way (with the Prophets) who went before. Allah's command is a decree firmly determined. *75
There is not to be upon the meaning
*74) These words show that for the other Muslims such a marriage is just permissible but for the Holy Prophet it was a duty which Allah had imposed on him.
*75) That is, " For the Prophets it has always been a law that whatever Command they receive from Allah, they have to act on it as a duty which they cannot in any case avoid.
When Allah enjoins something on His Prophet, he has to accomplish it even if the whole world is deadly opposed to it. "
Tafsir Maarif-ul-Quran Mufti Muhammad Shafi

Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
( There is no reproach ) there is no sin or offence ( for the Prophet in that which Allah maketh his due ) in the dispensation Allah makes for him, by making him marry. ( That was Allah’s way ) thus was Allah’s decree ( with those who passed away of old ) before Muhammad ( pbuh ); the reference here is to David and his marriage to the wife of Uriya; and it is also said that this refers to the marriage of Solomon with Balqis ( and the commandment of Allah is certain destiny ) the decree of Allah must necessarily take place.
Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali
There is no blame on the Prophet (SAW) in that which Allah has made legal for him. That has been Allah's Way with those who have passed away of (the Prophets of) old. And the Command of Allah is a decree determined.
