Quran 8:54 Surah Anfal ayat 54 Tafsir Ibn Katheer in English
8:54 [Theirs is] like the custom of the people of Pharaoh and of those before them. They denied the signs of their Lord, so We destroyed them for their sins, and We drowned the people of Pharaoh. And all [of them] were wrongdoers.

Quran 8:54 Tafsir Al-Jalalayn
Like the way of Pharaoh’s folk and those before them they denied the signs of their Lord so We destroyed them for their sins and We drowned the folk of Pharaoh his people together with him and all disbelieving communities were evildoers.
Almuntakhab Fi Tafsir Alquran Alkarim
A reasoning marked by circumspection: it is attentive to all circumstances that may affect action, circumstances that are similar to those of the Pharaoh and his people and their predecessors who were united in their innate quality. They abused Allahs grace and by consequence fell from grace; they denied Allahs signs and revelations and persisted in their intentional assertion of falsehood. As a result, We destroyed them in requital of their willful violation of the divine law and their transgression against Allah and His commands. We drowned Pharaoh and his People; they were all wrongful of actions
Quran 8:54 Tafsir Ibn Kathir
Allah affirms His perfect justice and fairness in His decisions, for He decided that He will not change a bounty that He has granted someone, except on account of an evil that they committed.
Allah said in another Ayah,
( Verily, Allah will not change the (good ) condition of a people as long as they do not change their state ( of goodness ) themselves.
But when Allah wills a people's punishment, there can be no turning it back, and they will find besides Him no protector.) 13:11
Allah said next,
كَدَأْبِ ءَالِ فِرْعَوْنَ
( Similar to the behavior of the people of Fir`awn, ) meaning, He punished Fir`awn and his kind, those who denied His Ayat.
Allah destroyed them because of their sins, and took away the favors that He granted them, such as gardens, springs, plants, treasures and pleasant dwellings, as well as all of the delights that they enjoyed.
Allah did not wrong them, but it is they who wronged themselves.
Tafsir Maarif-ul-Quran Mufti Muhammad Shafi

Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
( (Their way is ) as the way of Pharaoh’s folk) as the work of Pharaoh’s folk ( and those before them; they denied the revelations of their Lord ) they disbelieved in Scriptures and messengers just as the disbelievers of Mecca disbelieved, ( so We destroyed them in their sins ) because of their disbelief. ( And We drowned the folk of Pharaoh. All were evil-doers ) disbelievers.
Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali
Similar to the behaviour of the people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before them. They belied the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), of their Lord, so We destroyed them for their sins, and We drowned the people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh) for they were all Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.).
We try our best to translate, keeping in mind the Italian saying: "Traduttore, traditore", which means: "Translation is a betrayal of the original text".
