Surah Hijr ayat 79 Tafsir Quran 15:79

﴿فَانتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ وَإِنَّهُمَا لَبِإِمَامٍ مُّبِينٍ﴾
[ الحجر: 79]

15:79 So We took retribution from them, and indeed, both [cities] are on a clear highway.

So We exacted retribution from them by destroying them through extreme heat. And certainly both of them that is the cities of the people of Lot and those of the dwellers in the wood are upon a open road plain to see so will you not take heed from their example O people of Mecca?

And in consequence we took just-vengeance on them and both sites stand manifest of the events on a course of travel where people can see

The Destruction of the Dwellers of Al-Aykah, the People of Shu`ayb The Dwellers of Al-Aykah, were the people of Shu`ayb.
Ad-Dahhak, Qatadah and others said that Al-Aykah refers to intertwined trees.
Their evildoing included associating partners with Allah ( Shirk ), banditry and cheating in weights and measures.
Allah punished them with the Sayhah ( the awful cry or torment ), the earthquake, and the torment of the Day of Shadow.
They lived near the people of Lut, but at a later time, and the people of Lut were known to them, which is why Allah says, وَإِنَّهُمَا لَبِإِمَامٍ مُّبِينٍ ( They are both on an open route, plain to see. ) Ibn `Abbas, Mujahid, Ad-Dahhak and others said, "a visible route." This is why, when Shu`ayb warned his people, he said to them, وَمَا قَوْمُ لُوطٍ مِّنكُم بِبَعِيدٍ ( And the people of Lut are not far off from you! ) 11:89

(15:79) We took vengeance on them. And the ruined habitations of these two Communities lie upon the open highway. *44

So We took retribution from them, and meaning

*44) Midian lay on the route from Hijaz to Palestine and Syria.

( So We took vengeance on them ) in this worldly life by means of chastisement; ( and lo! they both ) the townships of Lot and Shu’ayb ( are on a high road plain to see ) and which they do pass by.

So, We took vengeance on them. They are both on an open highway, plain to see.
