surah Nisa aya 21 , English translation of the meaning Ayah.
﴿وَكَيْفَ تَأْخُذُونَهُ وَقَدْ أَفْضَىٰ بَعْضُكُمْ إِلَىٰ بَعْضٍ وَأَخَذْنَ مِنكُم مِّيثَاقًا غَلِيظًا﴾
[ النساء: 21]
4:21 And how could you take it while you have gone in unto each other and they have taken from you a solemn covenant?
Tafsir Ibn Katheer in EnglishHow could you take what you gave to them as a dowry after the relationship, love, enjoyment and sharing of secrets that has occurred between you? Greed for the wealth which is theirs after all this is forbidden and shameful.
They took a sincere promise from you, by which they became lawful to you through the Word of Allah and His sacred law.

And how could you take it (back) while you have gone in unto each other, and they have taken from you a firm and strong covenant?

(4:21) How can you take it away after each one has enjoyed the other, and they have taken a firm covenant from you? *31
And how could you take it while you have gone in unto meaning
*31). The 'firm covenant' in this verse refers to marriage. For marriage is a firm covenant of fidelity. It is only because a woman has faith in the firmness of this covenant that she entrusts herself to a man. If a man decides of his own will to break it, he has no right to withdraw the amount he offered his wife by way of bridal-due at the time of entering into that covenant. (See Towards Understanding the Qur'an, vol. I, Surah 2, n. 251.)
