Verse 28 from surah Saad

[ ص: 28]

English - Sahih International

38:28 Or should we treat those who believe and do righteous deeds like corrupters in the land? Or should We treat those who fear Allah like the wicked?

Tafsir Ibn Katheer in English
Abridged Explanation of the Quran

I will never make those who believe in Allah, follow His messenger and do good deeds like those who make the corruption on earth through disbelief and sins, nor will I make those who are mindful of their Lord by carrying out His orders and refraining from His prohibitions like the disbelievers and hypocrites who are engrossed in sins.
Making them both equal is an injustice which does not befit Allah.
But rather Allah will reward the pious believers by entry into Paradise and punish the wretched disbelievers by entry into the fire, because they are not equal in Allah’s sight so their reward is not equal in His sight too.

Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali

Shall We treat those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, as Mufsidun (those who associate partners in worship with Allah and commit crimes) on earth? Or shall We treat the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2), as the Fujjar (criminals, disbelievers, wicked, etc)?

Abdullah Yusuf Ali - Translation

Shall We treat those who believe and work deeds of righteousness, the same as those who do mischief on earth? Shall We treat those who guard against evil, the same as those who turn aside from the right?

Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri

Shall We treat those who believe and do righteous good deeds as those who cause mischief on the earth Or shall We treat those who have Taqwa as the evildoers

We try our best to translate, keeping in mind the Italian saying: "Traduttore, traditore", which means: "Translation is a betrayal of the original text".

38:28 Or should we treat those who believe and do righteous deeds like translate in arabic

أم نجعل الذين آمنوا وعملوا الصالحات كالمفسدين في الأرض أم نجعل المتقين كالفجار

Almuntakhab Fi Tafsir Alquran Alkarim

Or shall We requite those whose hearts reflect the image of religious and spiritual virtues and their deeds wisdom and piety on the same ground as We requite those who play the mischief on earth! or do We requite those in whose hearts reigns piety as We requite those who grow daily more and more wicked

Tafseer Tafheem-ul-Quran by Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi

(38:28) Shall We then treat alike those that believe and act righteously and those that create mischief on earth? Or treat alike the God-fearing and the wicked? *30

Or should we treat those who believe and do righteous deeds like meaning

*30) That is, "Do you think it is reasonable and fair that both the pious and the wicked should be treated alike in the end? Do you regard this concept as satisfying that the pious man should not get any reward for his piety and the wrongdoer should not receive any punishment for his sins? Obviously, if there is to be no Hereafter, and there is to be no accountability and no rewards and no punishments for human acts, it negates both Allah's wisdom and His justice, and the entire order of the Universe becomes a blind order. On this assumption there remains no motive for doing good and no deterrent against evil. God forbid, if the Godhead of God should be such a lawless kingdom, the one who leads a pious lift in the face of all kinds of hardships in the world and endeavours to reform the people, would be a foolish person, and the one who gains benefits by committing All kinds of excesses and enjoys sinful pleasures of life, would be a wise man."

Or should we treat those who believe and do righteous deeds like meaning in Urdu
