Verse 29 from surah Al-Anbiya

﴿۞ وَمَن يَقُلْ مِنْهُمْ إِنِّي إِلَٰهٌ مِّن دُونِهِ فَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِيهِ جَهَنَّمَ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الظَّالِمِينَ﴾
[ الأنبياء: 29]

English - Sahih International

21:29 And whoever of them should say, "Indeed, I am a god besides Him"- that one We would recompense with Hell. Thus do We recompense the wrongdoers.

Tafsir Ibn Katheer in English

Abridged Explanation of the Quran

And for argument’s sake, whoever amongst the angels were to say: “I am a god besides Allah”, I will punish him for what he says with Hellfire on the Day of Judgment, staying therein forever.
And with this kind of punishment I punish those who are unjust by disbelieving and associating partners with Allah.

Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali

And if any of them should say: "Verily, I am an ilah (a god) besides Him (Allah)," such a one We should recompense with Hell. Thus We recompense the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.).

Waman yaqul minhum innee ilahun min doonihi fathalika najzeehi jahannama kathalika najzee alththalimeena

Abdullah Yusuf Ali - Translation

If any of them should say, "I am a god besides Him", such a one We should reward with Hell: thus do We reward those who do wrong.

Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri

And if any of them should say: "Verily, I am a god besides Him," such We should recompense with Hell. Thus We recompense the wrongdoers.
