[Iblees] said, "My Lord, because You have put me in error, I (15:39)

Now, O Allah, Iblis said, that You have destined me and I have erred, I will entangle them with the bird-lime of fleshy passions, mundane vanity and temporalities and I will entice them all to do evil and I will incite idle men to tempt me to tempt them

(15:39) Iblis replied, "Lord, because Thou hast beguiled me, I will create allurements for them *22 and seduce them

[Iblees] said, "My Lord, because You have put me in error, I meaning

*22) That is, "Thou hast beguiled me by commanding me to bow down before a creature who is inferior to me: for it is obvious that I could not obey such an order. Therefore, I will now beguile them and disobey Thee." In other words, Iblis meant to say, "I will make the worldly life, its enjoyments and its transitory benefits so alluring for man that he will forget the responsibilities of the Vicegerent of Allah, and that he shall have to render his account in the Hereafter. They will also forget Thee ar will disobey Thee, even though they would profess to remember Thee."

وہ بولا "میرے رب، جیسا تو نے مجھے بہکایا اُسی طرح اب میں زمین میں اِن کے لیے دل فریبیاں پیدا کر کے اِن سب کو بہکا دوں گا
