And We wanted to confer favor upon those who were oppressed in (28:5)

﴿وَنُرِيدُ أَن نَّمُنَّ عَلَى الَّذِينَ اسْتُضْعِفُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَنَجْعَلَهُمْ أَئِمَّةً وَنَجْعَلَهُمُ الْوَارِثِينَ﴾
[ القصص: 5]

28:5 And We wanted to confer favor upon those who were oppressed in the land and make them leaders and make them inheritors

And I wanted to bestow a favour upon the Israelites who had been oppressed by the Pharaoh in Egypt, by destroying their enemy, liberating them from the oppression, making them leaders, to be followed by those who seek the truth, and making them inheritors of Pharaoh’s kingdom in Egypt after I drowned him and his armies.

And We wished to do a favour to those who were weak (and oppressed) in the land, and to make them rulers and to make them the inheritors,

Wanureedu an namunna AAala allatheena istudAAifoo fee alardi wanajAAalahum aimmatan wanajAAalahumu alwaritheena

And We wished to be Gracious to those who were being depressed in the land, to make them leaders (in Faith) and make them heirs,

Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri
