﴿وَكَذَّبَ بِهِ قَوْمُكَ وَهُوَ الْحَقُّ ۚ قُل لَّسْتُ عَلَيْكُم بِوَكِيلٍ﴾
[ الأنعام: 66]
6:66 But your people have denied it while it is the truth. Say, "I am not over you a manager."
Tafsir Ibn Katheer in EnglishYour people have denied this Qur’ān, yet it is the truth about which there is no doubt that it is from Allah.
Say to them, O Messenger: I am not responsible for your actions.
I am only to warn you before a severe punishment.

But thy people reject this, though it is the truth. Say: "Not mine is the responsibility for arranging your affairs;

It is not a Prophet's task to chastise people for failing to see and comprehend the Truth. His task is merely to proclaim Truth as distinct from falsehood. If people fail thereafter to accept it, they will be overwhelmed by the very misfortunes against which that Prophet had warned.
