23:96 Repel, by [means of] what is best, [their] evil. We are most knowing of what they describe.

Abridged Explanation of the Quran

O Messenger, repel the one who is bad to you by the characteristic which is better, namely turning away from him and being patient with his harm.
I know best the associating partners and denial they describe, and the unbefitting things they describe you with such as magic and insanity.

Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali

Repel evil with that which is better. We are Best-Acquainted with the things they utter.
