﴿وَقُرْآنًا فَرَقْنَاهُ لِتَقْرَأَهُ عَلَى النَّاسِ عَلَىٰ مُكْثٍ وَنَزَّلْنَاهُ تَنزِيلًا﴾

English - Sahih International

17:106 And [it is] a Qur'an which We have separated [by intervals] that you might recite it to the people over a prolonged period. And We have sent it down progressively.

Abridged Explanation of the Quran

And I sent it as a Qur’ān which I have separated and explained, in the hope that you read it to people slowly and carefully, as this is more effective for understanding and reflecting.
And I revealed it in separate portions according to incidents and conditions.

And (it is) a Quran which We have divided (into parts), in order that you might recite it to men at intervals. And We have revealed it by stages. (in 23 years).

(It is) a Qur'an which We have divided (into parts from time to time), in order that thou mightest recite it to men at intervals: We have revealed it by stages.

A Quran that has been revealed in partible division at intervals so that you may recite it O Muhammad to the people slowly and deliberately. We revealed it in succeeding stages and each part with the others makes up the whole

Tafseer Tafheem-ul-Quran by Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi

(17:106) And we have sent down this Qur'an piecemeal so that you may recite it to the people gradually piece by piece, and We have sent it down by gradual Revelations *119 (to suit particular occasions).

*119) This is an answer to this objection: "Why has not Allah sent down His Message as a whole? Why is He sending it piecemeal? Has Allah any need to think deliberately what to send down?" As the answer to this objection has been given in XVI: 101-102 and in the Explanatory Notes 104-106 added to them, there is no need to repeat the same here.

اور اس قرآن کو ہم نے تھوڑا تھوڑا کر کے نازل کیا ہے تاکہ تم ٹھیر ٹھیر کر اسے لوگوں کو سناؤ، اور اسے ہم نے (موقع موقع سے) بتدریج اتارا ہے
