﴿وَلَهُ الْجَوَارِ الْمُنشَآتُ فِي الْبَحْرِ كَالْأَعْلَامِ﴾
[ الرحمن: 24]
55:24 And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains.
Tafsir Ibn Katheer in EnglishHe, ( may He be glorified ), alone has control of the ships that sail on the oceans like mountains.
Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali
And His are the ships going and coming in the seas, like mountains.
phonetic Transliteration
Walahu aljawari almunshaatu fee albahri kaalaAAlami
Abdullah Yusuf Ali - Translation
And His are the Ships sailing smoothly through the seas, lofty as mountains:
Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri
And His are Al-Jawar Al-Munsha'at, in the seas like A`lam.
We try our best to translate, keeping in mind the Italian saying: "Traduttore, traditore", which means: "Translation is a betrayal of the original text".

To Him, the invisible acting force that produces the motion, belong the ships that are manned to sail the sea propelled by material fastened to the high masts and the stately ships, propelled by other means, imposing and majestic in size and proportions

(55:24) His are the ships, *23 towering on the sea like mountains.

*23) "His are the ships...": Ships became possible only by His power. It is He Who blessed man with the capability and skill that he may build ships for crossing the oceans; it is He Who created on the earth the material from which ships could be built; and it is He Who subjected water to the laws by which it became possible for the mountain-like ships to sail on the surface of the surging oceans.
