English - Sahih International

36:66 And if We willed, We could have obliterated their eyes, and they would race to [find] the path, and how could they see?

Tafsir Ibn Katheer in English
Abridged Explanation of the Quran

If I had willed to take away their sight I would have done so and they will not be able to see, just as I sealed their mouths and they were not able to speak.
They would have then rushed towards the path to cross over it into Paradise, but it is unlikely that they will cross over when their sight is gone.

Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali

And if it had been Our Will, We would surely have wiped out (blinded) their eyes, so that they would struggle for the Path, how then would they see?

We try our best to translate, keeping in mind the Italian saying: "Traduttore, traditore", which means: "Translation is a betrayal of the original text".
