﴿قَالَ أَنَا خَيْرٌ مِّنْهُ ۖ خَلَقْتَنِي مِن نَّارٍ وَخَلَقْتَهُ مِن طِينٍ﴾
[ ص: 76]
38:76 He said, "I am better than him. You created me from fire and created him from clay."
Tafsir Ibn Katheer in EnglishIblis said: “I am better than Adam.
You created me from fire and you created him from clay.
And fire is a more noble substance than clay”.
Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali
[Iblis (Satan)] said: "I am better than he, You created me from fire, and You created him from clay."
phonetic Transliteration
Qala ana khayrun minhu khalaqtanee min narin wakhalaqtahu min teenin
Abdullah Yusuf Ali - Translation
(Iblis) said: "I am better than he: thou createdst me from fire, and him thou createdst from clay."
Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri
[Iblis] said: "I am better than he. You created me from fire, and You created him from clay."
