Verse 78 from surah Ya-Sin

﴿وَضَرَبَ لَنَا مَثَلًا وَنَسِيَ خَلْقَهُ ۖ قَالَ مَن يُحْيِي الْعِظَامَ وَهِيَ رَمِيمٌ﴾
[ يس: 78]

English - Sahih International

36:78 And he presents for Us an example and forgets his [own] creation. He says, "Who will give life to bones while they are disintegrated?"

Tafsir Ibn Katheer in English

Abridged Explanation of the Quran

This disbeliever is heedless and ignorant when he uses decayed bones to prove the impossibility of resurrection, saying, “Who will resurrect us?” whilst having forgotten his own creation from non-existence.

Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali

And he puts forth for Us a parable, and forgets his own creation. He says: "Who will give life to these bones when they have rotted away and became dust?"

Wadaraba lana mathalan wanasiya khalqahu qala man yuhyee alAAithama wahiya rameemun

Abdullah Yusuf Ali - Translation

And he makes comparisons for Us, and forgets his own (origin and) Creation: He says, "Who can give life to (dry) bones and decomposed ones (at that)?"

Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri

And he puts forth for Us a parable, and forgets his own creation. He says: "Who will give life to these bones after they are rotten and have become dust"

(36:78) He strikes for Us *66 a similitude and forgot his own creation. *67 He says: 'Who will quicken the bones when they have decayed?'

*66) That is, "He regards Us powerless and weak like the creation, and flunks that just as man cannot raise the dead back to life, so also can't We."
*67) "Forgets his own creation": "Forgets that We created the basic germ of life from dead matter, which became the means of his creation; then We caused the germ to develop to such an extent that now he stands before Us as a disputant."
