surah TaHa aya 84 , English translation of the meaning Ayah.
﴿قَالَ هُمْ أُولَاءِ عَلَىٰ أَثَرِي وَعَجِلْتُ إِلَيْكَ رَبِّ لِتَرْضَىٰ﴾
[ طه: 84]
20:84 He said, "They are close upon my tracks, and I hastened to You, my Lord, that You be pleased."
Tafsir Ibn Katheer in EnglishMoses ( peace be upon him ) said: “Here they are behind me.
They shall catch up with me.
I preceded my people in coming to You, so that you become pleased with me for coming towards You quickly”.
Muhammad Taqiud-Din alHilali
He said: "They are close on my footsteps, and I hastened to You, O my Lord, that You might be pleased."
phonetic Transliteration
Qala hum olai AAala atharee waAAajiltu ilayka rabbi litarda
Abdullah Yusuf Ali - Translation
He replied: "Behold, they are close on my footsteps: I hastened to thee, O my Lord, to please thee."
Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri
He said: "They are close on my footsteps, and I hastened to You, O my Lord, that You might be pleased."
We try our best to translate, keeping in mind the Italian saying: "Traduttore, traditore", which means: "Translation is a betrayal of the original text".
